  1. I am up for that one time! Bright and gay drinks, yes please.
  2. Yes, feet on seats really annoys me too. I once saw someone spitting on the floor of a bus as if this were perfectly normal. I glared at him but was too scared to do anything else as he looked like a member of the underclass. Why is it necessary to put your feet on a seat? Why is it necessary to spit in the street, let alone inside a bus? Were these people raised by wild animals?
  3. Deep-rooted problem unfortunately. Certain people are brought up to think that they have the right to do whatever they like & society has to put up & clear up after them. Am amazed David Cameron hasn't capitalized more on this. I hate the man but if he had two brain cells he would use this issue as a stick to beat Labour with.
  4. Near the roundabout I think. Cool photos Macroban!
  5. Loz, what terrible assumptions you make! I am assuming you have never bought anything unless it was handmade by well-fed East Dulwich locals. It's amazing how it's fine and pc to stereotype about middle-class creative people but you're not allowed to criticise a "poor working class bus driver" who is violent, incompetent and being paid a decent wage thanks very much! And I must say, some people in the creative industries are of course tossers, but I work pretty hard and conscientiously so I have little sympathy with those who don't. Unlike bus drivers, jobs in our industry are massively in demand. Meaning more is demanded of us, and if we don't deliver, we're out of the door! And on the point about the terrible safety abroad, yes. But that's not what we're talking about.
  6. Sorry but I don't have much sympathy for them. Yes it must be tough and boring but so what? Me and most of my friends work in creative industries where we do exceptionally long hours for little pay. I have never smashed a window in a rage and I take pride in my job! It seems to me too many people want to grab everything they can get and give nothing in return. In other parts of the world people work for much less pay in much worse conditions, yet they do their job properly. Why can't these drivers?
  7. I have seen the attitude and professionalism of bus drivers deteriorate over the years. It seems like one of those jobs nobody really wants to do any more. So they are left with the dregs of society - halfwits who are otherwise unemployable, with terrible social skills. As for their driving, I am often amazed at how aggressive and inconsiderate they are. When I was a child a bus crash was a rare occurrence - now they seem to happen with alarming frequency. And no wonder when the drivers barge out without indicating, ignore red lights and generally drive with no consideration towards their passengers or other road users.
  8. Yes, I was hoping for a bun fight but did not get one. Actually I hate it when people say "X is the best ------ in London". How on earth do they know? Have they been everywhere in London? So I will retract my silly statement. I would say that it's by far my favourite Indian restaurant - the food tastes wonderfully fresh and flavoursome (none of that straight-out-of-a-jar stuff you get in lots of Indian restaurants), they have lots of local specialities (delicious dosas), they are so polite & welcoming AND incredibly good value. They deserve great custom because they obviously work so hard, and it shows.
  9. Oh no. Are you joking Michael? Surely there are enough bonkers churches in peckham already?
  10. What does the man have against veggies anyway? Mybe he was spurned by a vegetarian woman once.
  11. It's on the main road just next to the railway bridge, about 2 minutes from Norbury station. London Road I think (?) They do a ?5 buffet for Sunday lunch which is great too. And they are so nice. Wish we had one like this in East Dulwich.
  12. Don't forget Shahee Bhelpoori in Norbury - near Streatham. It's worth the drive - all veggie Indian with loads of vegan options. Best Indian in London I reckon.
  13. I think that Peckham does have a great energy to it which comes from its multicultural mix. Compare it with a similarly poor predominantly white area like e.g. Downham and I know where I'd rather live! What does worry me is the notion that all those churches are a good thing. One of them - the UCKG - is a particularly dubious organisation whose creator and self-appointed head is a millionaire South American businessman. These churches profit from the poor, peddling a cocktail of superstitions and virulent homophobia. They are fiercely judgmental, encouraging belief in both demons and miracles. Rather than binding communities, I think they are dividing us all even further.
  14. She must be drop-dead gorgeous
  15. There's still a Clarks isn't there?
  16. Macroban you are a big tease
  17. Are you looking at me!?
  18. Aw, thank you!
  19. Wot no TATU on your iPOD? Pah!
  20. You get the best puns on this forum. What with all this talk of a Paul I am practically hyper-ventillating! Come on Karter, what's happening man?
  21. I shall resist the urge to make a smutty remark.
  22. What's interesting is the way salaries have levelled out. E.g. most of my "creative" friends earn substantially less than train drivers, carpenters etc. So I don't have much sympathy with those who mourn the disappearance of the "poor impoverished working classes" from East Dulwich - most of them left long ago for Bromley and Basildon. They can now be found polishing their 4x4s, admiring their new build mock tudor mansions and going to Bluewater of a weekend, thanks very much!
  23. Am I being lounged? I feel violated! (reaches for smelling salts) Actually I am surprised I haven't been lounged before. I am a bit random.
  24. It has come to something when the best the Tories can muster is an affable, eccentric clown with a tendency for making Prince Philip-style faux pas (ask the people of Liverpool)
