  1. When your party is headed up by a total muppet, that commands very little respect from the majority of his MPs, then defying the three line whip, and the party line is not really difficult. Especially when a couple of the whips came out before the vote and said they may well defy themselves. Labour Party is a complete and utter joke at the moment. It's depressing, and I am going from disagreeing with, to almost hating Corbyn's supporters now, because they have no idea the damage they are doing by effectively ensuring this government a free ride.

When you say "fascist", do you really mean "person who is a bit right wing"? Ot's just that I'm not sure you understand what fascism is.
  3. For what it's worth Lou, I am 100% with you on these bloody petitions!
  4. I got my tax breakdown last year. I paid ?88 to the EU. Less than I paid for anything else. A fifth if what I soent on defence. A tenth of what I spent on state pensions and education. A 20th of what I spent on welfare. And a full 1500 quid less than I spent on health. Seems lime a bargain to me.
  5. I think this whole petition is childish and pathetic. As are most of the petitions I see shared on Facebook. In January 2016 Parliament debated whether or not to let Trump in to the UK (following a petition of course). MPs had a great time slagging him off, never believing that he'd actually become president. Now they#re going to waste more time doing the same, with the same outcome. I believe we should be pressuring Theresa May to condemn things Trump says, and stand up to him. But refusing to engage with him is not helpful for anyone. He is the democratically elected leader of a country that (thanks to our stupidity), we need to deal wioth and be "friends" with. And no, I am no Trump fan. I think he's a feckin lunatic, but he's been elected, and pissing him off just for the sake of it isn't going to do much good.

  7. TheCat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I personally don't know how anyone thought he > would be a strong, effective leader in the first > place. I have said this before, but I felt after the May 15 DE that things obviously were not working for Labour and needed a shake up. At the start of the leadership race I'd have given my vote to Chukka, then he pulled out. I was then leaning towards Cooper. But as Corbyn's popularity rose, the other candidates used every opportunity to speak publically to tell us not to vote for JC, but none of them convinced me that I should vote for them instead. I voted JC thinking that he could shift things slightly to the left, then step aside for a fresh face once a fresh face was ready. I never ever saw him as potential PM. But I freely admit I had absolutely no idea just how shit he'd be. And I don't think he's in any mood to step aside for anyone, because he's believing his own hype from the stupid fucktards of Momentum. But as has been suggested above, if he went now, they'd put another numpty in his place. Jo Cox was honestly my hope for 2020, but obviously that's gone.
  8. Saw this on another thread rendelharris Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Truly shite performance from the Corbster - > Government performs a massive U-turn on something > you've been asking for and they've been refusing > to give and it ends up making you look stupid? > Despair. And thought it worth a new thread. I gave up on Jezza about a month after he became leader. Last night I watched PMQs, and just wanted to slap him across the face with a giant fish. He is laughable, and he is making May look good. And she really really isn't good. For her to be given the opportunity to basically explain how things work to him in the house, is just unforgivable. It's not even that he's not trying to ask the right things, it's just the painfully inept way that he does it (I mean who the fuck is writing his lines for him???). I am no SNP fan, but Angus Robertson basically stood up and showed us how to deliver the question about the NHS / American privatisation. Corbyn had tried to raise it, but just got a bit shouty and was completely ineffective. So, he won the leadership again, and I don't honestly think his supporters can claim that he's being sniped at anymore. Does anyone still honestly believe that he is going to take Labour forward? I am still a party member, but am feeling less and less like I want to be.

Many a brexiteer seems to have this belief that we are some how special, the whole "Great Britain" thing. We are no more special than any other country, and no one is going to do us any favours, just as we wouldn't if roles were reversed.

This is good news. Although (and I don't expect football fans to see past football) Lewisham are expected by the government to build a certain number of homes each year, and they are running out of places to build them. Of course Millwall shouldn't be forced out, but homes will end up being built around there, and so they should be.
  11. Damn it, I'd been so good at remembering, and was chipping away at the gap to the cowboy. Then forgot last week, and now will not catch up.
  12. Has anyone ever done an intensive driving course that they would recommend? It's for my wife, who really wants to learn, but is not very confident about it...
  13. I applaud what you're trying to do, but 50k members on FB is not a large number I'm afraid. Brexit is happening, and it's happening at a time when we don't have a single senior politician on either side that I'm confident could negotiate with a street trader, let alone the EU.
  14. I admit I know nothing about this movement in the US, but I can't help but be reminded of the attempt in the UK to copy the Black Lives Matter campaign, and I agree with Rahx3 that a demonstration has the best chance of getting a message across when the message is clear and explicit.

I'm largely on the same side as you politically, but just to pick at something... You say "many companies", and give B&Q as an example. Is there anything to show that it's many companies? Not saying there isn't by the way, just genuinely interested.
  16. My issue with both Cameron's government and now this one is about the destruction of public services. I admit that personally I'm probably a bit better off, but as a public sector worker, I am seeing real struggles. But that's all down to the immigrants apparently.

Can't say a draw wasn't a fair result this arvo, but still a sickener. How about Everton / City though? John Stones is shit. Never understood why people raved about him.

He's currently holed up working on an opera about the history of the forum, where the forum is a physical place like a pub.
  19. That said, I'd probably still buy one at a gig, if they weren't ridiculously bloody expensive. And if I still went to gigs.
  20. When were Ramones t-shirts "in"? I had one when I was about 16. Haven't worn a band t-shirt (unless for sleeping in or pottering around the gaff) for years. Think they're out of bounds once you're over 25.

Agreed. Just another example of what utter c**ts The Sun are.

  24. But if they have said on Amazon "leave it behind the side gate", that's up to them. Can't blame the delivery guy. Obviously we don't know that that's the case, but there's every chance it is.
