We've been looking in to pets for our girls, and hamster was pretty quickly removed from the list. Noisy at night, bite, and die pretty quickly. We're heading down the guinea pig route.

Agree. But how often does that happen. I was thinking just yesterday (about an unrelated topic) that we are in danger of raising a generation of real soft useless people, not equped to deal with the world they live in because we wrap our kids in cotton wool too much. That's not to say I want big dogs flattening small kids, but I also don't want to take away anything in the environment that could possibly cause harm to our little ones. And I dsay that as a parent who is probably also guilty of over protecting sometimes.

As previously stated, I'm not a F&C lover, but to me a fiver for the cod plus ?150 for chips is what I'd be expecting to pay in any decent chippy.

For what it's worth, if a dog approaches one of my kids I'll sort of put my arms around the kid so she feels protected but I'll encourage her to interact with the dog. I don't think people should have to keep dogs on leads at certain times of the day for fear of seeing a child.

But it's not just midwives. Organisations like the NTC also need to take a level of responsibility. I've heard so many stories where women said they felt like failures when their plans for natural birth didn't go to plan. Although to be fair I'm going back 5 years, may be better now.

Well then I've never walked past a fish mongers (stall or shop) selling fresh fish. It may be because my dad spent years working on a fish stall in Brixton market (when it used to be a good interesting market) so I developed something of an aversion. If there is nothing else to eat, I can handle a bit of battered cod, because it basically tastes of very little. But that's it.

Not really East Dulwich though is it. But as has been said, if you're not involved with shady characters then you're unlikely to be bothered by them. People don't tend to shit in their own doorsteps either.

What is it the neighbours are doing which is affecting you? Is it a private landlord?

That's a really sad story, I wonder whether she convinced herself she could beat the cancer with these nonsense treatments partly because she simply couldn't face up to the thought of losing her arm.
