Dereck Chisora bit someone, but that's not overly surprising to be honest.
-
That's what I said wasn't it?
-
Hope that Canadian dude is right about the world record transfer fee!

But one fighter isn't always a loon. I'm not saying it was normal. Just that it's less surprising (if still very shocking) in that arena than on a football pitch.

It is weird. But Tyson and holyfield were in a fight, and Tyson was coming off badly. Bit different. Haha, BIT different, see what I did there?

I think she's rather attractive (if getting on a bit). -

That's 3 > times he's biten an opponent. The guy is clearly > deranged. I never said it was a silly thing to brush aside, and I've said several times he has a screw lose. But as Miga says, it's more weird than most things. There are plenty of cheats in this WC. Players diving, little slaps, elbows, I've already lost count of the times I've heard "he's got away with that". But biting is creepy. But I honestly think he barely registers that he's doing it at the time. Which DOES NOT EXCUSE IT BEFORE YOU JUMP DOWN MY THROAT but that he's just wired wrong. But all that aside, the fact remains that Fifa has never extended a ban for a non drugs-related incident to domestic football, and I don't think that should change, whatever Alan bloody Shearer thinks.

I take your point *bob*, but at the end of the day they DID hack the Dowler girl's phone and that crossed a line. -
That's a good one. I saw one earlier of a grounded Suarez being grabed around the neck by those poles dog catchers use, and and open cage van behind him.

I know, I knew as I posted I should have left it to see if anyone would bite. But in all seriousness are you honestly seeing people calling for them to have that kind of punishment? That seems a bit mental even if they are scum. -

Can't someone think that prison doesn't really work, whilst also thinking that someone who is guilty should be found guilty? -
I also agree. Although "We've gone backward ever since." isn't really true. We did better than Hoddle's England in the following two tournaments. We've gone backwards since then.

I'm in a foul mood today so maybe got a bit defensive, but I stand by my point that despite obviously not wanting Suarez banned for Liverpool this season, I don't think I've ever (about this or anything else) played any kind of Liverpool victim card. And if he played for any of the teams people on here support, I imagine they'd also not want to see him banned for their clubs. That doesn't mean I'm saying that biting someone is acceptable, it's clearly not. But (and I would say this for any player of ANY club), I think you're on very dangerous ground if FIFA start banning players from their domestic leagues for things that happen on international duty. I also IMAGINE (don't know obviously) that the Premier League wouldn't take too kindly to it.

Bit moving on, I've said for years that England need more players abroad, but the answer to jeremy's question is not a lot. Michael Owen was our star when he went to Real Madrid, and despite actually doing pretty well for goals when he was played, he never really made it there. Macca did well but too late in his career, same for Beckham really. We need young players coming through these teams.

What you said there is an utter fecking nonsense. Saying you might react differently if this was an Arsenal player (in YOUR case), is pretty far from saying you're just picking on him because he's a Liverpool player. I have never done the "poor us we get picked on" thing, so don't accuse me of it.

Did Netherlands used to be referred to as Holland on British telly?

Threads being lounged and upsetting the natural order of the universe.

What Jeremy said. I want to see him punished. I want to see him get help. But what he did actually had no effect on the world cup (other than his own country who will lose their best player) or another player's health.
-
Yeah this is totally about Liverpool, and we're totally "chippy" (whatever the hell that even means). Where have Anna or I defended him or said what he did was okay? I'm sure all other club supporters would be totally different if it was their player.
-
As I've just said elsewhere (FB) rhe previous in this context was at club level. He deserved a much bigger punishment for his handball antics last WC than for this IMO as that really did cost the opposition.

From BBC website "The longest ban in World Cup history was eight games for Italy's Mauro Tassotti for breaking Spain's Luis Enrique's nose in 1994 with an elbow, while Zinedine Zidane was given a three-match ban for headbutting Marco Materazzi in the 2006 final." So in that context (the real one) what ban should Suarez get?

Having had a little scrote spit in my face a couple of years back, I'd honestly take the bite every time. If bitten like the player was tonight I'd have probably responded like that player. If someone spat in my face I'd jave struggled not to punch them right in the face.

Well Maxxi said Suarwzw is obviously a bit nutso and deserves to be banned. I agree. But surely it's okay to compare one misdemeanour to another? Alan "stomp on a player but get away with it because you're England captain" Shearer is the worst for being holier than thou. In their defence, what do you say about this guy who has biten on three separate occasions? It's outside of the norm so they say "it's a disgrace" because saying "maybe he needs some professional help" is outside of their remit. Yes I'm a Liverpool fan and yes I hope he's either available for us or we get some dosh for him, but that is not what I'm basing my opinion of here. And genuine question here, when a player has done something really bad during international duty, have they been banned at domestic level? Honest question because I can't remember.

What about headbutts? And I don't mean clashes going for the ball, I mean the Alan Pardew school of putting your head in someone's face.
