  1. Well said Maxxi.
  2. Just for the record, I've not excused his behaviour anywhere. On Facebook I immediately posted saying he's clearly got something wrong with his head. But equally I think people are getting a bit carried away. He's made an absolute fool of himself AGAIN, and on the world stage. He's probably screwed his chances of a great move to Real or somewhere. He'll no doubt receive a pretty hefty punishment, but all this "ban him for a season or for life" talk is stupid.
  3. Yeah, the poor Italian guy will be out for months. Oh wait, no he won't. Perspective please. It's very weird but he hasn't shot someone.
  4. It certainly looks like he did. Great player, but serious screw loose.
  5. The jury took days to come to their conclusion (I think I read earlier that they'd gone out on the 11th). So I suspect (not that I am any kind of legal expert) that her lawer managed to slip in some sort of "reasonable doubt" issue whereby they all knew she was guilty as sin, but they were forced to find her not guilty. Of course I have absolutely no proof of that whatsoever, but will be interested to read more detail about the case, as I wasn't floowing that closely (I'd just assumed they'd both get done).
  6. Just read nxjen's link. "It originally had a Compton 2Manual/8Ranks theatre organ which was opened by Edgar Peto. There was also a cafe for the convenience of patrons. The stage was 22 feet deep and with three dressing rooms it allowed for variety shows to be staged. It was taken over by Associated British Cinemas(ABC) from July 1933 and they operated it for the remainder of its cinematic life. Occasional variety shows were part of the programming in the 1950?s and the Compton organ was played until it was removed in the late-1950?s." I guess the "varierty shows" were what was being referred to by whoever told me it had been a dance hall, it would have been music hall theatre. I find all that music hall stuff quite fasinating, must have been good fun with rowdy crowds and naughty songs.
  7. The Capitol always seems to have a fair flow of people when I pass it. Surprised to ear it may close, if indeed that's the case. Personally I've never liked it as a Wetherspoons, not because I have anything against Wetherspoons (far from it), I just don't like that huge space for a pub. I'm sure I've been told that the buidling was used as a dance hall, probably 40s/50s, but not sure.
  8. Several people have said similar today. That they didn't do much music or have much direct contact with him, but that he was such a personality you couldn't forget him. He did so much for me in many ways that I just need to thank him and tell him what a big difference he made.
  9. I forgot the entire second round of games and today's earlier games so I'm basically out if it.

  11. Looking back at previous posts, s/he once had a conversation with some bloke called Keef about visual impairment mobility, and seemed to know a bit about the courses. Seemed very real back then. I don't think it's a BBW troll type of thang. I think the OP probably stemmed from a boozy lunch and s/he thought they'd share, probably knowing it would get a few backs up. And why not?
  12. And geography. "Tart" is very commonly used in Liverpool especially by the older generation. "How's your tart?" (meaning your wife or girlfriend) wouldn't raise an eyebrow from said woman. An older bloke in my then local once said it to me, and then explained it to me when he saw my jaw drop.
  13. Well said intexasatthe moment.
  14. Wasn't that building a cinema once upon a time? It's been bingo hall, dance hall and theatre, but not sure about cinema.
  15. Good post from KalamityKel, I think you're spot on.
  16. You'll know Mr (John) Skinner. The man that gave so so much to so many people, he retired not long ago, deserving a kong and happy rest, but instead he's VERY sick in Lewisham Hospital. I am left heart broken at this news. He was more than just a teacher, he was a selfless mentor that truly did give everything to the education of his students. I went to see him yesterday and he is not doing well. If anyone knows him and wants more details please PM me.
  17. No shame in a sun holiday as such. I just hate The Sun.
  18. I took the first post as written by someone who thinks the YM label is silly, not as someone who would earnestly use it, hence my silly response to it. Maybe I got it wrong, but didn't think it was the usual YM type post. Clearly I'm naive today.
  19. We can't afford it either. We are getting a few nights in a caravan because my dad paid for a Sun holiday (the shame), but other than that we try to visit friends just to get away, but even then fares can be too much.
  20. Is yummy mummy fur coat with knickers and a tart fur coat and no knickers?
  21. It didn't seem like that when I was there about 8 years ago to be honest.
  22. I'm not feeling too gloomy about England. We tried some youth, and saw some promise. Plus without Messi Argentina would surely be joinging us at the airport, and Brazil aren't exactly storming it. Shame to see France doing so well, but you can't have everything. All in all it's a very enjoyable WC so far. Hope England go out with some pride on Tuesday...
  23. I don't think he meant muff diving LD ;-)
  24. I came to this thread all ready to talk about St Kikda in Melbourne. Now that's a cool place.
