Louisa has a very fair point on this occasion. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, there are plenty of people that don't feel comfortable in the other pubs and bars the area now has to offer. For them this is a genuine loss as chances are it will be transformed in to another food serving jazz pub. Like the area is crying out for one of those.

I'd say the castle is usually pretty busy. I also heard about this last week, and I think it's an absolutely shocking way to treat someone. Bare in mind this is more than just her job she's losing. And it's not just an old man's pub FFS. Unless by "old man" you just mean people who's faces don't fit in the other "pubs" of ED. Although I do disagree with the OP about Fox's, I've used it a lot and never seen any drug use going on (unlike most of the places on Lordship Lane). But that's not really the point anyway. A very very nice lady is being treated in a bloody shocking manner.

Agreed Pennydreadful. I can see P68's point about decision makers and agree that it would be a worry if any low pay grade officer had discretion. But it shouldn't need to go to ministerial level, there should be a transparent panel at managerial level within the immigration service.

At one point in my younger days I used to buy a pint of lager, drink half of it then top it back up with one of those Smirnoff Ice drinks. It was called a turbo shandy. I remember there being quite a trend in the early 90s for snakebite & black with added pernod, but I just hate the taste of pernod so never really got in to that.

It's okay, most of the people on here (well the lounge) left Dulwich years ago. You'll find more and more people moving from Dulwich to Beckenham, so you'll feel at home. Only problem with it is there are quite a high number of people that grew up in white working class households, then moved to Beckenham in the 80s / 90s and felt they'd really made it. They now look down their noses at people on benefits or living in council estates.
