I heard one of the hooligans on the radio yesterday, proud as punch. It's like some sort of battle for them, they were going on about how 200 of them chased of thousands of England fans, and England fans don't know how to fight. By all accounts they're all in to "straight edge" (no booze / drugs / meat) and martial arts. They're proper nutters.

Also, in the past a young man could have been given years in prison, but his face wouldn't have been known outside of a small circle. Brock Turner's face is now known around the world. I don't have any sympathy for him or his stupid father, but I must admit I've felt slightly uncomfortable about the modern day "justice system" that is social media.
  3. I agree with DaveR on this. Yes we know that as a rule white, well educated people get a far easier time from legal systems. No one is arguing about that. But the thread title is "Brock Turner", and in this specific case I agree that race wasn't a factor. They published his bloody swimming times in the news reports FFS.

"why did we need to get them to back us" Well I'm assuming because someone made a challenge to them. We can make whatever rulings we like. And if said ruling are outside of the law, people will challenge them. All sorts of ruling at government and at local level get challenged in the (UK) courts all the time. It's not like the European Courts makes any rulings on our behalf, the government makes rulings. I for one am happy to have a court that tells them when dodgy rulings are illegal.

I only saw the second half, but I thought that despite Belgium not really working as a unit, Italy still weren't dominating that much.

Yeah, it was all a bit disjointed wasn't it. Didn't think Italy looked great.

I'd be interested to know. Yes I know, but the point is that in recent weeks he's rather brushed that bit under the carpet.

That's basically why I just can't bring myself to keep reading or watching the liars from both campaigns on telly. Although I was amused to see this video from 2006 of Boris Johnson urging us to accept Turkey in to the EU. https://www.buzzfeed.com/jimwaterson/boris-johnson-turkey?utm_term=.arvlNXyRK#.mrA8akLAP

Yeah Lallana could do with a goal, but he played well. And none of the others got a goal either in a match full of chances.

So to the performance. Like Rooney in that position, he did really well and worked really hard going forward and tracking back. Credit where it's due. No one did anything wrong, but I think Sterling was a weak link. Dier was great (Not just the goal), and pleased to see Lallana playing like that. Total sucker punch at the end, but for all the great play with no goals, I was pretty much expecting it.

UEFA would never kick a team out or play a match behind closed doors (at short notice) because it would cost them too much.
  15. I've nothing at all against the new manager, I don't know them so why would I. But giving someone a week to leave their job and their home for no good reason is just nasty, so I do have something agaionst the owners.

So 90s is fine. Noy blockbusters, bit of dark humour, that kind of thing. TRUE ROMANCE for example ;-)
  20. Survey suggests that British people basically haven't got a clue. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/eu-referendum-british-public-wrong-about-nearly-everything-survey-shows-a7074311.html No surprises there then.
  21. On blah blah's behalf I would like to claim offence Steveo, and demand you apologise for that low down dirty comment!
  22. 60 - 90 minutes is quite a long set, especially for a solo act. Just trying to give helpful advise.

  24. Was searching for this thread as wanted to share that footage, and it appears to have been taken down. Gutted.

Talking of British films (Not classic but cracked me up), can I recommend Kingsmen.
