  1. Exactly. I never had any grief in Liverpool personally, and one of my best friends who went to Newcastle was burgled regularly and his house mate was forced to empty his bank account at gun point at a cash machine. But in Liverpool I saw first hand more "casual" violence in 5 years than I have in the other 30 years of my life.

  3. Sorry.
  4. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!
  5. I'll call tails as apparently it never fails. Cue heads.
  6. The head of music John Skinner is a good good man who has always made sure that no child with musical ability would miss out because their family couldn't afford lessons. He set up a trust to make sure of that years ago (and I'm assuming it's still the case). He gives up his time after school every day for choirs or bands, and stays late helping his GCSE and A Level students. He gives up his Saturdays doing CYM (Centre for young musicians) and his school holidays are usually spend helping with the LSSO / LSSB or their little siblings. The fact there are some spaces there for musically talented children is because he wants them to have a chance, not because they are being somehow elitist. He did a lot for me when I was a teenager, and I'm forever grateful to him (even though at the time I probably cursed him a fair few times).
  7. Yes but as I said, figures on crime only show up crimes that are reported.
  8. Statistics probably don't back up LadyD's version because people don't tell the police. I remember when I was staying at a friends for a few weeks when I'd gone up to Liverpool to do a work placement. One night we were on the way back from the pub, and there was a bloke kicking the shit out of some young lad (probably only 15/16) on the pavement. We ran up, and he stopped. It turned out he lived over the road, and knew my mate. He'd caught the lad trying to break in his house, and decided to teach him a lesson. Anyway, he strolled back to his house, and we asked the boy if he was okay. Someone called out the window that they'd called the police, and the lad legged it. The police turned up a minute later and shone torches on our shoes looking for blood. Noone came out and said a word to them about who it was, even though the whole street had seen it out of their windows. The person who called the police did it to end the kicking, they had no intention of the bloke actually getting caught. Most scousers I knew were lovely lovely people, and I love the place. I did however see a lot of fights and trouble, and it seemed accepted as a fact of life. Look at that young black lad killed a few years ago. That wasn't your average attack, that was fucking brutal!
  9. This is fun!
  10. FUCKACUNT!
  11. Dude, don't punch him, you're not made that way ;-) I'll travel and punch for a fee!
  12. For the argument about the cost of the funeral, I kind of agree that it's a bit much when services are being cut. However, ?10m whilst a massive amount of money to any of us, is nothing in the grand scheme. It wouldn't save much in the way of public services.
  13. Yeah agree with quids. I wasn't suggesting writing a comment on the joke publically shaming him, but perhaps a quiet word (a private message in the cyber world).
  14. No, you tell the twat that he's a racist gobshite! I've met loads of really really racist Irish blokes who did absolutely nothing to hide the fact. Nearly always from out in the sticks somewhere, and it's crap. Please note, I AM NOT SAYING THAT IRISH PEOPLE ARE RACIST AS A RULE!!! (Before I get the almost inevitable backlash)
  15. Not if I have anything to do with it!
  16. I don't want anyone to respect her if they don't want to, and I certainly wont expect them to stand with heads bowed. Celebrating though? No class.
  17. Quids said "Respects to those that I may disagree with but were bright enough to see that fighting yesterdays battles, largely on false premises, is a pointless, slightly self indulgent and somewhat juvenile exccrcise when there's stuff happening RIGHT now." Totally agree with this!
  18. I think it's quite warm.
  19. 020 8291 8730 I suspect the people that work there will be able to answer your questions better than people on a forum.
  20. I've done the same, will copy them in to a PM.
  21. We never did arrange the walk followed by beer (dressed as Ninjas). I'm still in! I always remember me and my friend walking up Cox's walk at about 2am with 2 girls we were no doubt hoping to cop off with (when we were about 15). We got as far as the bridge before the girls chickened out and wanted to turn back... I was mighty releived!
  22. Nope, she's still up by 5 - 6. Older girl not so bad, but the little one seems to have limitless energy, and even a 10 minute power nap in the day can mean another couple of hours before she'll sleep at night.
  23. I wonder if anything has been filmed in Dulwich Woods. The big tunnel would be a good location. Or it would have been before they built that stupid cage in front of it!!! Grrr!!!!!

I was a school year above the kid on the bike, so that really is the East Dulwich I grew up in. (I'd have been 7 or 8 when that was filmed).
