For all we know, SAF had a word with Hodgson and asked him not to pick Rio. I wouldn't put it past SAF, and I wouldn't be surprised if Roy obeyed. Personally I'd be happiest with an England without Terry or Rio.

Saw this comment on BBC website, and think it's a good summary. Lets also not forget that Ferdinand's own club manager basically said he wasn't up to playing the amount of matches in a short space of time that the tournament requires.

It is very odd isn't it. I guess he has made the decision to keep Terry and Ferdinand apart, and as long as Terry remains in the squad he feels he can't go back on it. I'm not a huge Ferdinand fan, and think his fitness is a worry, but how is he still out. I also think Richards could play centre, yet Roy continues to ignore him. Bit odd.

What about "dogfights are deplorable" suggests that civilservant thinks they're "perfectly acceptable"? I'm confused. Some people enjoy watching suffering and death. These are the same freaks who probably watched the Daniel Pearl video, or the Saddam execution and thought it was cool.

Also, Joe Cole and Alberto Aquilani, both of whom I actually like, may find a way back under Rogers, and apparently even Kuyt was thinking of leaving after limited chances last season, so hopefully he'll rethink. Exciting times, and expectations not too high for once... Although that won't last.

Chuffed that Rogers has signed up, and I think the match going faithful will get behind him. Poor old Roy was seen as Hicks & Gillett's man, and that was never going to work, but to be fair to them, they did greet him warmly. They never gave him much chance when results were bad though. I think all Liverpool fans realise that there is a lot of work to be done to build a new team with a good style of play. I for one hope Rogers can build Liverlona!

Our older daughter has just turned 3, and she is the same, if she's had a long day, and nods off in her buggy even for 10 minutes, she won't go to sleep for ages in the evening. We just try and keep her awake.

I woldn't want to see Gerrard left out, and I genuinely think this could be Carroll's time to shine. I like Croutch, but I don't think he's really good enough against the top sides. Carroll may not be either, but it's his turn to have a chance. Can't believe that Micah Richards & Aaron Lennon aren't going!

BBC Reporting that Brendan Rogers will be new Liverpool manager in the next 48 hours, and that Liverpool will not appoint a director of football (good). If this is true, I hope the Anfield faithful really get behind him, and that he approaches the football in the same way he did at Swansea! I have nothing against Roberto Martinez, but far happier with this if it's true.

Never heard of that one, cheers. Windmill was the one that immediately sprang to mind, along with Amersham Arms and The Hob. Will be looking in to all of those. Another idea might be to try and get a few bands together and split the cost of hiring a venue, then split door takings to cover outlay. Any other bands out there who might be up for that? I could definitely get us a night at The Half Moon, which has a nice set up.

Well yes, that's a bit weird, but I still don't see why UDT was "pretty much alarmed", which suggests he wasn't quite alarmed, just on the verge.
