    the 1970s

It looks a good series. Only seen the first one so far, but have the second one recorded. I wasn't born til '78, so it's interesting for me to see the world my parents decided to bring their kids in to.
  3. Why would they? I like my red meat a bit bloody, and it won't harm me. If I see blood on chicken, there is no way it's going in my mouth.
  4. Can someone please tell me seriously what is so good about burgers? I love meat, but just don't really get the whole burger thing. This is no dig at anyone (before D_C assumes that I am calling burgers the food of the middle class) but I'll grab a maccas or BK, but if I want to eat some tasty meat, I'll buy a steak sandwich rather than a burger every time.,
  5. Regarding Brixton, for me it has always been cool and q bit alternative. The word Village (within London) makes me think of Blackheath or posh Dulwich, 2 places with a certain feel to them. A feel that I hope for Brixton's sake you never encounter when you're there.
  6. I am on Barking Road as I type, and I know the place!
  7. Thank you! I wasn't having a go at the place David, so no need to be offended. I just think that calling it "Village" is, as El Pibe says, "wanky". It is also very unoriginal, everywhere seems to be called Village these days. They are even trying to convince us Sydenham dwellers that Kirkdale is now Kirkdale Village. We do have a very nice French Bakers, but come on.
  8. Except it is called Brixton Village!
  9. Be a trainer. Good people skills would be q big help. Just don't be q careers advisor.
  10. Are they throwing themselves to the ground in despair, and hurting themselves?
  11. Gardening! Apparently there is a shortage of professional gardeners. I feel for you in your situation, but are you sure that this is a good time for a career change?
  12. Indeed. I bet Newcastle were gutted last night.
  13. I don't think he plays xbox as it goes. He and I are both guitar.
  14. Ha ha, no.
  15. Zonderlings Facebook page Four thirtysomething blokes including myself and another regular EDFer, writing some tunes, and having some fun. We hope to be gigging in SE London very soon, and will keep you posted.
  16. Cheers RD. We're all too long in the tooth to be dreaming of world domination*, but it's great being back in a band writing tunes and rocking out a bit. * Never say never though...
  17. Nah, I've never had the honour of meeting *bob* in the flesh.
  18. "Chatroom" Film 4, 11:25pm tonight. Stumbled across this film a few months back, and thought it was quite an original and well done film.
  19. Well if you require any more bands, have a listen to Zonderlings. 2 members (me being one of them) are regular EDFers ;-)
  20. Of course this used to happen in Britain. Don't think they told mothers that babies had died, but many babies were taken from their mothers for no good reason.
  21. KK where will your band night be, and what sort of bands will you be looking for?
  22. Hurrah for Charlton!
  23. Was "women & children first" not another way of saying "children first (because they are the future), and women with them, because they need to care for them" (something that men of the day wouldn't really have thought of as their role). As an aside, "night to remember", when the bloke finds the lost little boy amidst all the chaos, and takes him, and holds him close as the ship sinks. Lump in throat moment.
  24. Only just seen this thread. Wondered what the hell was going on last night when I went in the garden for a smoke. Thought of War of the Worlds!
  25. Sense of humour failure from UDT. What a surprise. Hats off to Chelsea, although Barca surely still favourites. Never know though, if they can nick an away goal...
