  1. I do not know. But I personally have cone across enough to make me believe that it's probably a significant number nationwide.

And this has been the problem with DLA, if you know how to fill the forms out, you can get it easily. And I strongly disagree that a person shouldn't have to decide whether they need something or not. FFS, that's exactly what they should be doing. I am not talking about the most vulnerable people here, I am talking about people, like me, who are perfectly able to work and live a "normal" life, but who choose to claim a benefit for people with care and mobility needs. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > PIPs are not easy to get and you have to be > assessed by a healthcare professional. I said that there are organisations out there who advocate and support various groups, and often these organisations will almost disable their clients further, painting them as unable to do anything. It makes my blood boil. And before anyone bites my head off, I care quite deeply about disability issues and have spent my working life trying to make life better for people with disabilities. But people that are just taking the piss can fuck off.
  4. That is not to say that I support what the government are doing exactly, but the fact is that there are plenty of people out there who could do more. I am a disabled person, in so far as I am registered as "sight impaired". I have filled in countless DLA forms for people, and I am 100% certain I could have filled one in for myself years ago and enjoyed some extra income. But I don't need it so I never have. There are plenty of people out there that don't need it but take it because they are encouraged to.
  5. The fact is that there are plenty of disabled people out there who could work but don't, and plenty of disability charities encouraging them to be dependent, because it gives them (the charities) a reason to exist.
  6. Just walk away from the sound of overly loud baritone laughter and you'll find somewhere.
  7. LondonMix Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'd say Brixton, Peckham and ED are > all as nice as each other but just appeal to > different demographics. See I guess it depends on how you define "nice". I don't think Brixton is anywhere near as "nice" as ED, but there is way more fun to be had there. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You are aware of the Psychology of 'Projection' I > presume Otta :) Heh, yes, and I get what you're getting at. But I stand by my point. I can't imagine any of the pubs / bars of ED appealing much to a 25 year old these days. 2002 - 07 I think it had more to offer that age group. But yes, it may just be that the area has grown up with it's residents (something which I am trying to resist).

Look I'm not dissing ED, it is what it is, and it's nice enough. But in my opinion (and that's all it is), it has become more dull in the last 10 years.
  9. Well I think rahrahrah is bang on. ED has created it's own myth, and Penge is doing exactly the same. They are both decent places. But there is nothing particularly special about either, and it could be argued that both are pretty dull. That doesn't really bother me these days as I have a limited social life. But if I was 10 years younger I'd be desperate to be elsewhere.

Not that that's the point, but having worked in the cursed place for years I feel the need to clarify.

No it's not, it's part of Greenwich.
  12. I hate Tog Gear, and I think the presenters past and present are like children who've been told they can do whatever they like. But I'm basically with Jeremy and rahrahrah on this. It's a non story.

I really think Spurs are going in the right direction and will remain "up there" for the foreseeable future. But I still desperately want Leicester to win the league this season.
  14. But we are not talking about when we were 10, we are talking about 2016, when everyone is looking to blame everyone for everything, that is the context I was thinking in. And I dunno, travelling to secondary school on your own was no big deal to me. Being home alone somehow seems a bigger responsibility in my mind. But certainly if a teen isn't trusted to be home alone by 14, something is wrong there. I was a full on wayward teen at that age. Happy days.

    Great club, awful owner.

BUT I think it would be better if there was just a named age in law and everyone knew where they stood. In these days of scapegoating and finger pointing, grey areas are never good when it comes to child safeguarding. 13 would seem a sensible starting point to me unless the child has additional needs. Below 10, absolutely not!
  17. But that is why it's funny. It's just so ludicrous.
  18. Yeah I did wonder why Liverpool were down to play Chelsea on Sunday, before the merseyside derby the following evening.

Scholes "The last thing I want for Manchester United is to be happy with finishing fourth and winning the FA Cup. That's what Arsenal do." Little boot in to Arsenal, but also making a big assumption that United can finish 4th and win the cup.

    Uber

I've yet to try uber, mainly because my mum instilled the belief that cabs are an expensive luxury when trains or buses are running, and I'm rarely out late at night these days. But I have wondered how it can be worth it for the drivers.

  24. I admit that at home I always slide pizza out of the oven on to a wooden chopping board. I slice at and put it on the table. Saves washing up innit.
  25. I stayed at a hotel in Birmingham recently with a beefeater attached. Breakfasts were pretty good, but the main menu was worse than wetherspoons and way way more expensive.
