  1. Indeed, a poor attempt. David, you're pretty harsh to DM, although I can see your point. I'm surprised at you suggesting the schools should fund something that the council really shouldn't be cutting, especially not to save a pittance, which this effectively is.
  2. Yeah, you coffee drinking wenches!
  3. Cheers for the update.
  4. So, can someone just clarify, are the buses back to normal now? Have to get to Kings in the morning, and don't want to be late.

When I've been to Reading, it's been because I want to see specific bands, and they do tend to get pretty good line ups if you like rock. Agree though, as a festival experience it pretty much sucks. Womad saw me tucked up by midnight, with no class A's all weekend. Saw some great stuff though, it wasn't all african drums.

*bob* I did womad last year, and thought it was the nicest festival I've ever been to. Of course, that may be because it was my first festival with a baby.

But fair point, some people will say that something is rubbish just because it's not to their taste, and that is a prejudice based on their taste.

Prejudice and taste are most definitely not the same thing DJ. They may cross paths at times, but they are completely different things!
  9. Quite bloody right! Besides, Labour lasts longer than 12 rounds, so sure I could just miss that bit :)-D

I'm pretty sure that's not what MP meant. He was saying that Beyonce is not really to his taste, rather than that he is predjudiced. He didn't seem to be saying that you had to like stuff he likes to have any taste. Calm down dear.

  12. I would imagine that everyone is different. You hear lots of people saying they like going back to work, as they get to do a bit of reading for themselves on the train, and get to think about something other than baby. My wife went back 3 days after our first, and she absolutely hated it. She just couldn't stand being away from the little one, although she did admit she enjoyed reading on the train! She's off again now, as our second is due in a few weeks, and after this, she'll probably go back 2 days, as she feels that would be a lot more barable.

Her voice may get better and better, but the arse will start to sag as the years role on. That's where she gets her power!
  14. Saying that, even with those tactics, he really rocked Valuev in one of the later rounds (possibly the last), so it could be possible that he gets inside, and puts Wlad down. It's interesting that Haye doesn't know what sort of chin Wlad has. He knows he's been down before, but whether that means he's actually "chinny" or not, is a different matter. Haye does seem to have a hell of a lot of power for a smaller heavyweight though.

I've got nothing against Beyonce, but I'd struggle to find room for her in a list of "the greats".
  16. Exactly right! She was wearing a black vest with the Guns n' roses logo, & "sweet child o' mine" on the front, when she was about 6 months old >:D<
  17. I didn't know this, interesting. I was a brass player, starting on the cornet in what would now be year 5, so I guess I was 9ish. Then moved to trumpet a year later, and carried that on through secondary / uni. Back when I was in school, I think the earliest anyone would be given the chance to play a brass or woodwind instrument (besides the recorder), would be year 4. That was rather a long time ago though. Would voice lessons be a possibility? Saves forking out on an expensive instrument too!
  18. I think (and hope) that if Haye is going to stop him, it'll be inside 5 or 6 rounds. However, despite Haye saying he's going to throw some big shots at him, I expect to see something more like what he did to Valuev... Will be interesting to see if he could get the decision in Kiltschko's (adopted) backyeard though.
  19. I hope to be there too.
  20. This seems an incredibly pointless cut. ?50k will make very very little difference in the grand scheme of things, and they are putting children at risk. It just makes no sense.
  21. My daughter is only 2, but I'm hoping she'll show interest in guitar when she's older. I like the idea of giving her my Les Paul and a top hat when she joins her first band!
  22. Plus, you could throw big banquets, and use her as entertainment
  23. Be warned, the violin played by a complete beginner is painfull to listen to. Think high pitched bagpipes, and you're nearly there. I think I'd go for something like the flute or clarinet at that age. Or even the recorder, just to see if she keeps at it for a while.
