Anyone ever driven into the City in the morning?
StraferJack replied to Shaggy's topic in The Lounge
is parking at the other end sorted? If it is, I would leave a bit earlier, you should be fine If you don't know where you are parking, leave a good bit earlier again -
(Guardian) Rio Ferdinand has quickly moved to downplay reports that he is working on the formation of a new footballers' union - specifically, but not uniquely for black players. "Don't believe all u read", he advised his almost three-and-a-half million Twitter followers, before reverting to matters more commonly discussed in his feed - on this occasion, shaving methods and products.

I think the actions of the refuseniks at the weekend could prove positive ? it has kept the whole idea of how authorties (be they overarching bodies or individual teams) deal with incidents Most people bemoan the sorry fines/suspensions handed out to offenders (anyone want to bet on the severity of Serbia?s punishment for example) but a major factor in that is the turnover of news ? ?that fine is outrageously low! How can they ju? oooh look, Rooney has had another transplant? Will all of this see much change? I think it?s a step in the right direction. What I think will happen is that enough people will tell the likes of ferdinand et al to stop it and get behind the ststus quo for them to relent, and then we will be back where we were As for ferdinand in particular and his crossing of Ferguson ? the writing has been on the wall for Rio for a little while now (at the highest level anyway) so I wouldn?t be surprised to see him go within the year but I think that was already happening anyway, simply for genuine ?footballing reasons?

I agree with a united front being better, but given how united people have been re KIO up until recently, has unity been enough? Why can?t a united front be behind the players if they are saying - ?not knocking you good people at KIO but we suspect you are being used as a sop, and we the players, who are told to be ?drivers?, are now saying more needs to be done by your funding bodies and beyond. When THAT happens, you good people at KIO will have more support and we can wear the tshirts knowing it?s more than a meaningless slogan again? Unite behind THAT and we should see faster, better changes. I'm really not sure what Rosenior is suggesting players do beyond "wear the tshirts and don't rock the boat" - and how does that progress anything?

Well one gets the twitter feed one deserves. I don't get much sloganeering but I get many interesting links to proper long articles I chose this thread mostly for the article tho, not really for twitter support. Obviously there was a slight dig tho. Plus when I saw you call it a fad 3 years ago... It might be rubbish and it might be over tomorrow but in web terms a fad it ain't

Found this on, erm, twitter Certainly contains plenty we could all take note of http://33revolutionsperminute.wordpress.com/2012/10/17/endless-war-a-few-thoughts-on-online-debate/

Nice Autumn countryside walk not too far away
StraferJack replied to clrky501's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's mentioned on many a thread in the past but Eynesford really is a simple 35 minute train ride away from PR station with plenty of good walking nearby -
So Muslim Council of Britain was ok with Virgin Money but not Wonga? Seems a bit odd

If it's a portable rad which tops up the temperature only when it dips below a pre-set number then it really shouldn't cost that much more Our central heating is off the whole night and the baby's room can get freezing in winter - but we got one of the thermostat radiators last year and there wasn't that much of an uptick in bills

man befriending child in peckham rye park

So THAT'S what it's called -
Aye - obviously ye olde cheshire cheese looks pretty much exactly the same from that angle but a place like the Anchor will have seen some changes

"Yes please...I'd like your number for when my house burns down at 3am on a Sunday. I'll need someone that doesn't have any formal qualifications, but who is obviously capable of saving me because they once replaced the battery in their smoke alarm using a step ladder." To be slightly fair to Marmora Man here (even tho' I'm probably on the opposite side of much of his argument) if I could have any civilian at hand to help deal with an emergency (be it fire or whatever) then it would be him. " Nope MM just bored of diggy posts that seem to boil down to I can't beleive I like people who don't think the Labour party is wonderful and belive the Guardian is a pile of shit" That has NO relation to what I said at all. Interesting take tho. Nothing I have posted on this thread as anything to do with labour at all. Or even party politics of any kind. Plenty of scope for heavy criticism of Tessa and her role in the Iraq war on this forum But sometimes, when a new thread starts about a local mp (of any hue) stepping down, it's worth taking a broader view of not just the bad but the years of work for local constituents and leave the other stuff for other threads. To have a couple of pages of "she doesn't live here" or "she didn't represent us" when clearly she did otherwise she wouldn't be reelected It's not that I care about her particularly... I'm only standing up because she's connected to us locally, not because of what party she is in. But constant,y branding all politicians as just corrupt and useless is incorrect. As with James barber and his efforts to communicate with people on here, the abuse he sometimes gets is out of all proportion to the sometimes painful politicking he gets himself into. It's just too easy to ALWAYS see only the bad. Walk in their shoes for a year and ill be impressed Why quids brought labour or the guardian into it as sticks to beat me with I have no idea
-
So people have read all that from what I wrote in my post? No wonder ive given up So for the record... I share el pibes view of the iraq war I don't think the sun shines out of labours arse I thought my post chimed with much of what Michael p wrote in an earlier post but he seems to think otherwise As I've already stated I've disagreed with plenty of what she has done in power. I don't "love" her and am not insisting that anyone even like her If people focused on her record fair enough The rest of this post I've deleted because it's not worth it

Which has why relevance in a thread about tessa jowell?
-
I don't agree with some of the things tessa has done but comparing her directly to mitchell is just plane disengenuous and rude. There is policy (wars, economic policy blah blah) which are unpopular and sometimes wrong and then there is plain old offensive, personal bigotry which is what Mitchell did I'm embarrassed to know and like some of the people having a pop at TJMP on here. She isn't some anonymous, unaccountable nobody. She does her things and faces a public vote time and again. You don't like her? More people do. Grow up As soon as some of you do the same i'll start respecting you more Fucks sake.

the other thing is... will Sky Go work in France or will it spot the IP address and say rights not available in that country?
