  1. Don't think it's that uncommon from Snopes.com but not a scam
  2. I think you'll find I called it first, back on page one. *sniff*
  3. what do you think not surviving might entail?
  4. LadyD Given that a large portion of Jo Brand's comedy is her talking about how much she likes cake/food it's not necessarily wrong for people to pick up on that Having said that, people do seem to take inordinate amount of joy in taking the mick out of her in an unnecissarily personal way. I left her comedy behind years ago but she seems like a good egg to me
  5. yeah, but you'll have nightmares
  6. NN has just picked up a fault in the AE35 unit. He reckons it's going to go 100% failure in 72 hours.
  7. once again... "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that"
  8. I'm sorry dave...I'm afraid I can't do that
  9. hmmmmmmmm
  10. no reason the card was cloned at Sainsbury's - that's just the machine they are choosing to withdraw cash from could have happened in any shop with a card reader and pin-entry if it wasn't guarded enough
  11. "Most if not all counter-arguments to my original posting, have clearly taken the form of reductio ad absurdum format, The ad hominem attacks, show a refusal to even consider a paradigm that is outside the norms of mainstream media, data Processing and conditioning. This was expected and predicted by professionals in anthropology." oooh, with language like that, the mask is slipping slightly and a familiar figure starts to take shape
  12. 19.1 and sticky buns covered in icing
  13. I recently had a weekend at a Roberts wifi-radio-owning household and whilst the machine was groovy in itself, I'm not sure I would fork out extra cash for one if I had tune-in radio on a smartphone (and by "if" I mean I already do) If you have a portable speaker dock or a roberts already in place which you can attach, I would say the interface alone on the TuneIn app makes it far, far preferable The Sonos options (and similar) mentioned all look good at what they do, but it's a different requirement (at a not-insignificant cost) If I was in a position where I was ripping out the interior of a house, I would consider throwing some cable under the floor to most rooms, just as a good-to-have option in the future
  14. Another planned-to-use-a-bottle-warmer-but-couldn't-be-doing-with-it family here I was surprised at how willing to take cool milk they were at first. And once they get older and have things other than bottles heated up, the microwave is invaluable
  15. I think the cheap alcohol comment was in reference to the fact that people bring their own tinnies and wine along - so rather than paying ?4 bar prices, you get 4 tinnies for the same price. That's what I used to do anyway As for the festival - it's all been trashed out before. It was a poor excuse for a festival - but I went every year. If it was on again I would probably wander along but completely understand why it doesn't warrant taxpayers money But just as with the last time this festival was discussed it appears that some people want to get all upset and offended - anyone getting upset about the festival not being funded is genuinely like 2 bald men fighting over a comb.
  16. 7.2) I will get VERY cross with a small number of you
  17. 7) I will, at some point, get cross with you
  18. Agreed - great post Gavin I was one of the people who responded when you first took on the job and I said that my problem was with the parent company - but it sounds as if you have dug your heels and are pushing for improvements wherever possible Since I moved from that end of SE22 I don't get to the Plough as often, but I did pop in on Sunday and before we even had a chance to sit down, staff were floorwalking and taking our drinks orders. That never used to happen before and saved a queue at the bar, so good work
  19. that sounds like..... most rich people I know.
  20. people talk about underinvestment, youth, tactics, and all manner of factors being the problem at Arsenal I blame that horrid away strip
  21. I think that could be arranged nettie
  22. For clarity The historical moments I quoted were merely points in time where doomsayers were legion and if we were to listen then we would have given up Is that what you meant mockney?
  23. I'm so glad I actually bother to write words In English "> We aren't at a pretty pass. Things could well go > tits up. I'm not pretending otherwise." Only for people to ignore them and take cheap shots
  24. Cuban missile crisis London pea soupers Advance of hi...I mean germany in WWII And many others You could either believe the "chicken licken sky is falling down" merchants Or trust in humanities ability to find a way We aren't at a pretty pass. Things could well go tits up. I'm not pretending otherwise. But I do wish some people would show some backbone and roll their sleeves up instead of just saying "here are some worst possible scenarios and i think they are certain to happen" Because that way lies madness. Or at least depression
