  1. Haven't seen any Madge references
  2. Early days yet. A meagre post tally so far. But not shy
  3. First time in ages I've been able to say that
  4. Is this from the same Kristal? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mark-b-kristal/placenta-to-eat-or-not-to_b_1865446.html
  5. Be fair... You know I meant "major questions" within the context of the pub opening. I didn't expect Obama to discuss with DC at next summit
  6. Which need not be a disaster. Just engage and explain to people what's changed and what they can expect
  7. Lane lover. Not sure what that means in context of this debate?
  8. "Support local ventures businesses and be nice to people - it pays you back to be kind folks! " There aren't many people living locally who do more to support bars and restaurants than I do. I'm in several of them most days! Foxy doesn't hide behind a forum name either. I see him out and about often and he's a regular and the curry club I was one of the first customers in the patch and I'll be back again. But there are major questions over the way the have presented themselves and what they are delivering. That isn't negativity on my part.
  9. A lot of " mays" in that whole OP tho
  10. It's possible the Patch will come good on it's website promises, or on the promises re local breweries here: http://www.bighospitality.co.uk/Business/Entrepreneur-plans-to-turn-East-Dulwich-pub-into-London-s-first-self-sustaining-community-gastropub but given they are open, have the pumps already installed, and with a very limited (tied-brewery supplied?) beer list, if I was them i would dampen down any negativity with some local engagement. But I haven't seen any On here? Nothing Twitter? very very little Their website? Have a look
  11. Hey if I can go and have a drink with buddug after our spats, it's the least you two can do
  12. Hel Any info re Patch was posted early on (ie not much) the fact that they are taking money from customers but not really updating their webpage, pub front, etc isn't really anyone on here's fault The splash on their webpage is worth re-reading tho "THE PATCH - LONDON'S FIRST SELF-SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY PUB We are re-inventing the concept of the urban pub. Fully independent and self-sufficient, The Patch is a community gastro-pub that is owned, supplied and managed by the local community. " If I recall, the Ivy House promised much the same but followed through with projection spreadsheets and other plans on here. Goodwill remained in place before they opened and you can't get a seat for love nore money on a Sunday now Maybe same will be true of the Patch?
  13. buddug, meet James James, meet buddug "But they are probably unwiling to upset the deluded meat-eating majority." we are just sheeple, right James?
  14. KK - I think Alan knows MOST takeaways do deliver, but some don't and I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of them
  15. "which I think covers 'old, poor and disabled' as a group." well that's an opinion, and it's yours " Your response to my request for a demographic study thus implicity covers the same cohort." if you say so. I disagree Back in the real world - TFL not permanently removing sign updates. List of affected bus stops published above.
  16. Foxy When some people say the Patch is attracting a lot of negative comment before opening, you shouldn't take that to be all about you. Several people have posted negative comments and the "critics" are referring to that, rather than your spat with *bob* the price of a 3 course meal is not "unrelated" but goes to the heart of your argument about the Patch being overpriced - all *bob* tried to do was point out how you were comparing apples and oranges and you wouldn't even allow him the fact that he had a point. So I don't see a fox hunt or bullying anywhere. I do see namecalling and pig-headedness but that's par for the course
  17. Re 10 minute waits: The rules are: 1) 10 minute wait at a tube station ? ?you are f****** kidding me!!!!? 2) 10 minute wait at a bus stop ?grrrr ? but could be worse? 3) National rail ? ?sweet! Enough time to buy a mag and some coffee?
  18. way to paraphrase penguin, way to paraphrase firstly I didn't say " old and poor and disabled" - you said that i did refer to that demographic as "elderly" - and those people will be far more used to not having a display than having it. I'm not advocating removing it from them (see my update from TFL above) - I'm just saying they might be more hardy than you give them credit for.
  19. That bus stop is one of a selectionof busstops that TFL say they are temporarily removing http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/corporate/temporary-countdown-sign-removals.pdf So looks like they will be back But is everyone who hasn't got a smartphone saying that can't or won't use the text option on an old nokia? Or willing to ask someone else at a bus stop?
  20. "Live bus times at stops can be a godsend to some people - maybe Tfl should be researching the demographics of particular stops and siting their displays where there may be most need? Is there any evidence that they are already doing this?" They are a relatively recent introduction - anyone in that demographic is far more used to NOT having a countdown - that doesn't mean they don't count but it stil ldoesn't warrant spending cash on installing and maintaining these boards And how much effort would ittake to measure demographics of each bus stop? sheesh...
  21. Foxy played the "bullied" card pretty early on before frustration set in
  22. "Anyway, I'm going to try and find some Paint That's Drying that I can Watch.. " i know just the pub....
  23. "Is it my imagination or are UDT and DJKQ having a barney?" not seeing the voice behind either of those tbh
  24. it's all a bit sledgehammer to crack a nut tho isn't it? I'm sure they will have crunched some numbers but if it's as straightforward as they are presenting it, I'm not sure I'd agree with whatever figure is in the "projected income" column
  25. I?m pretty sure most people are pro-enterprise and WANT the Patch to do well But that doesn?t give any business a free pass ? if they have been promising one thing (independently owned) and are delivering another (tied pub) then people are well within their rights to be dubious Their website is a state as well I went in on Saturday because there was a mahoosive blackboard outside saying ?we are open!!!!? When I went in confusion reigned and was told that sign wasn?t meant to be out there. How many people are loose on the premises that such a big board can be outside without manager knowing? All of this adds up to? not very much tbh. That doesn?t make me anti-enterprise or wish them badly (I was quick enough to be in there and keen to spend my money).
