Reminded me of the time when Argentina needed to beat Peru by four clear goals to qualify for the final during World Cup 1978.

Downgrading of vocational subjects

Not sure about the black and white accusation. Just pointing out what's right and wrong. For example, it was the Tories, and not Labour, who introduced league tables for Schools. The PFI concept was introduced by the Tories. In fact, it was invented by Norman Lamont, a former Tory Chancellor. -
Downgrading of vocational subjects

Our schools decayed under a Thatcher government. It is right that Labour rebuilt our schools at a time when the UK was the fourth largest economy in the world. It is about treating our children as human beings. There have always been a shortage of good maths & science teachers even from the days of a Thatcher government. To blame the maths illiteracy on the last labour government is plainly short-sighted over the real issues. -

With all the public sector cuts, can schools really afford to pay the market rate for good maths teachers? -
elected upper house: is it true no one cares?

The House of Lords already consists of members with wide range of sector experience. http://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/lords/ -

Why would a maths graduate want to work in the public sector for relatively low pay and with fringe benefits under attack by the Tories and media? -
It was the BBC team who obtained the information on the bus regulation wrangle from the DfT under a FoI request, Huguenot. I don't know about the old man bit. I look young and fit.
-
Huguenot, you better take your argument to the Department for Transport and TfL as you think you know more than them with regards to regulations. Your short email could have saved their six months wrangling over the issue!;-) I'm already aware on how the new bus functions and again your reply is irrelevant to my last question on bus fares rising to meet the costs in employing conductors.
-
Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As it happens, old Routemasters continue to be > employed around the world as tourist buses despite > UDT claiming bus regulation as yet another area of > expertise. The concern was whether the new Routemasters meets international regulation. Your poor joke and old Routemaster argument are irrelevant. They're a poor attempt to recover from your misinterpretation of the BBC news story. For the bus to function with an open platform they'll need conductors. Conductors costs money and could result in fare rises. I have always liked open platform buses but it remains to be seen if passengers are happy to pay the extra to fund conductors.

This is what the Germans did during the last world cup and the same young players caused a lot of problems for England. It's also worth noting that the Engalnd u21s had beaten the German u21s in the year before world cup 2010.

Trams have gone down well in Nottingham and Manchester, EP.
-
Watch out for Raheem Sterling of Liverpool and then tell me there are no talented youngster in this this country.
-
Trams are popular, EP, and there are a number of new Tram projects in the UK.
-
EP, I don't think you recognise the progress made by the FA and the English clubs in developing young players. The points you've made probably dated back five to ten years ago.
-
The whole point of the video was that the new buses may not be exported. They said international regulations not EU legislation, you prat. With a small risk of a challenge by the EC. Anyway, buses are heavily subsidised and I rather see the money spent on developing trams for London. They have cross party support, better green credentials, faster and more cost effective than buses. The current coalition government are in favour of trams.

Scholes had previously cricised his former England colleagues for being glory hunters rather than playing a simple pass.

Robben was given far too much time and space in last night's game. England looked uncertain in their performance. The Dutch defence wasn't particularly good either.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=QNtg7fwsPiA#t=102s According to this link the new London Bus design cannot be exported due to lack of international standard regulations for a rear open platform vehicle. With regards to the costs, Boris has previously stated the new buses will cost just a bit more than the standard buses after mass production. The ?12m figure quoted by Silverfox included the r&d costs.

I think Pearce made the right decision. Watching Gerrard last weekend made me think whether he has match fitness. I also think it'll a while before Gerrard shows his true form after his lengthy injury. @Parkside - stretching the definition of 'recent' somewhat.

Not the > greatest idea to play such a game between normal > league games. Utterly pointless. Perhaps, tomorrow's game England - Holland game was originally scheduled for last summer but was postsponed because of the riots. Anyway PD nothing to worry about. It's not as if Arsenal contribute much to the England side in recent years.

On what year your picture dates back, Ed?

Peckham has a growing reputation on the London arts circuit. It won't be too long before Peckham becomes the next Hoxton. ;-) The money being pumped into Peckham now is small change compared to billions pumped in elsewhere.

Good idea but I'm afraid it will break the EDF's terms and conditions.:))
-
Rye Lane is now a designated conservation area, Jeremy. Hopefully, we should see the real Peckham in future. The picture posted by iBilly as a knee jerk reaction is rather unhelpful to what is actually going on in Peckham at the moment. Perhaps reading up on the Peckham and Nunhead Area Action plan & the English Heritage report provides insight to his mind. I've been inside the Old Waiting Room and it's such a wonderful space.

Wenger simly outsmarted Redknapp. This concerns me as he needs to be more tactically aware in the international arena. Perhaps Pearce is playing it safe for his first game in charge rather than gambling on an inexperienced O-C. eta: he
