Anyone would think England was actually out of the WC already. An Italy win tonight will make the following round very interesting and not at all hopeless.

Stuart Pearce made what I thought was a very valid point about England not letting their younger players develop through the age groups. As soon as there is a whiff of someone being good, they're promoted to the senior squad. The problem is they usually only get to sit on the bench or in the stands. Last time England won anything was the U 17's twice in the Euro's in recent years. Reason being is that at that age the players aren't pulled out of selection. At the last U20 WC England had 46 players pull out. Keeping the better players in their under age teams gives them a chance to experience tournament play which in due course will benefit the senior team. I think most international associations take the under age game seriously.

Good to see no one is blaming the manager yet.

Theft is a fact of life these days. Mobile phone theft is very common. It has happened around here many times. The girl hasn't been blamed but if you have something worth stealing you need to have a bit of awareness about you. I don't have a top of the range phone but I find that if people are moving to get off the train for example and I'm using it, I hold onto it just a little bit tighter, in case.

I just had to lookup the stats for Switzerland v Italy given ????'s comment. Last 3 times they played it was a draw. Which is what I think England deserved yesterday overall. My point about Rooney is if you are going to play him, play him where he is best. Just because Sturridge scored doesn't mean he should keep his place. What else did he do?

If that wasn't the most entertaining England performance in a long time I must be blind. Yet the pundits get more airtime here than the team. The question that needs to be addressed most in my opinion is what to do with Rooney? He is being treated like a utility player. Maybe he should be given the chance to play as a centre forward instead of Sturridge. Reading PD's complaints about the Irish complaining about TH's handball when they got a penalty they should never had got in a previous game, is akin to saying TH would never have played if his Dad hadn't forgot the condom the night he was conceived.

How is buying something which increases in value 'unearned' wealth? You took a risk and it could have gone down in value and left you with a loss. Taking a risk and earning a profit is earned in my view.
