  1. It seems it's a term used in the Simpsons. I thought the first word was nautical and I knew the second was Spanish. Not sure what Brazil had to do with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahoy_(greeting)
  2. Is that a Spanish shipping term SJ?
  3. Didn't Mourinho get sacked from Chelsea for not playing attractive enough football? He won things but that wasn't sufficient for RA if memory serves me correctly. I don't despise him at all as I can't help thinking he's just acting most of the time. Pep, who was the bees knees at Barca is now getting flack for his style of play at Bayern from no less than Franz Beckenbauer. It must be hard to be a manager, apart from the money you earn.
  4. Saturation is the word. Back in the day the WC was a chance to see much more live football than you normally had the chance to. Nowadays I am selective about what I watch as there are too few games that I actually enjoy. As for WC's (not toilets), the one that sticks in my mind as being the best was the 1970 one. England v Brazil was on my birthday (Moore v Pele) and England v W.Germany was unforgettable. Peru were great and Brazil fantastic. This WC is again putting money before players. The k.o. times for some of those games in the North are considered by locals to be 'inhuman' (so I have read) due to the heat. I think the Germans come out worst with two early afternoon matches in the heat. If England get 1 point from their first two games I think Mr.Ben's event should be well attended as technically England would still be in a position to qualify.
  5. I suppose you can't have it everyway but there have been two 'goal line technology' disallowed goals recently where the margin was minute. The naked eye and the TV camera would certainly not have detected they were not goals. Yesterday the ball must have been 99.99% over the line, if the graphics are anything to go by. Perhaps it should be adjusted to be in line with how a decision would be made by someone in the perfect position to see it, with perfect eyesight. A more sympathetic approach.
  6. I would have put my tuppenceworth on it if you'd shared it, that's all.
  7. That horse was mysteriously missing from your list above Mick.
  8. You know that's not called Dulwich Wood, Foxy? It's called Sydenham which seems to be quite a common mistake.
  9. Hope you got there muffins. Hoping for a Leinster Munster semi-final.
  10. I think you're missing something LadyD. Where's the hysteria?

BTW Foxy, I saw the link to your website elsewhere and was surprised you mentioned Dulwich Wood. Where is that? Nice website.
  12. I'm sure there's a fourth......
  13. I believe 4 have won it.
  14. Given the speed of pigeons and their supposed inability to use the EDF, I phoned said place. I was told they can show it, which after further questioning meant they will show it.
  15. Ask me another one Jah..........like how many qualify for the semi-finals.
  16. I'd say it was a postman except for the persistent knocking. They don't usually bother knocking at all. Thanks for the warning Max. I'm on red alert.

My thought precisely this morning arriving at LB before 7. I don't know why it appears to get so congested while people are moving off the platform when most if not all people seem perfectly able to add a bit of pep to their stride.

  21. I'd swear that the BBC reported buying AND selling players this morning.
  22. Anyone know at what point the number of years remaining on a leasehold property diminishes it's value? If 100 years doesn't, what about 75 or 50? I know they can be renewed but in terms of selling up when might it affect the value? if anyone has any experience of this I'd appreciate knowing.
  23. He's also injured and will be for some time. I bet they will make an exception for goalkeepers if they enforce it.
  24. Thanks for the reply Jayne and good luck with your Masters. I suspected as much with your answer but the topic did make me think had my parents influenced my eating habits in later life.
