  1. If I had known Maximay's experence previously I still would have said what I said - but in a different way. I dont think that anybody can pass judgement on somebody else on the basis of a newspaper article.
  2. I staggered through with friends who have two youngish kids. It was a nightmare. I dont surpose that the organisers were in any way family unfriendly - but there awareness of their needs seemed to be nil. The sight of about dozen buggies lined up outside the tent would have been amusing if it werent so sad. The weather was SO much nicer than the summer fare, but the organisation was SO much poorer. Disabled access? I am not such a pillock as to think that all disabled people are in wheerchairs, but anybody who wasnt fully mobile would have a real problem fighting through. Shame the council didnt do anything about the muddy quagmire that surrounded the event. Very disappointed, walked though once, didnt buy anything, ran off to Borough Market and bought lots.
  3. *Do any involve hardboard flooring?*
  4. *Where's his big gun then?*
  5. Lozzyloz you are a marvellous man.
  6. *That Seal reserve - anybody noticed the big flippery thing in the corner of the road. Seems a bit fishy to me ....*
  7. That and that we were 10 to 20 years older than the ladies and we looked like a bunch of gargoyles on a cathedral night out.
  8. I wasnt saying that she couldnt have a voice. I was simply expressing my opinion that without direct experience her views of CWAL are irelevant and have no weight. I feel that her views do soil the forum, that is somewhat different from saying that they have no place on the forum.
  9. *Ambles in nursing various explosive related injuries. God what a day! Working from home Friday, shopping in Peckham, tidying up for weekend house guests, making tonights pork casserole and herb dumplings with potato, parsnip and coriander mash, gentle doze this afternoon, now just waiting for my guests - phew* *Glad that MP left his gin behind, dontcha just love those airport security restrictions?* *MP and Mrs Mockers next G&T could well be in Raffles - marvellous*
  10. Maximay, you are indeed entitled to your opinion, this being a liberal and accepting society. It is unfortunate that you choose to abuse this through espousing a view that seems to reflect an inability to offer forgiveness and support to a fellow human being or indeed to accept the human power of personal redemption. We support CWALD because we know her through the forum or through meeting her. Maximay you do not know CWALD and are in no position to voice any kind of opinion about her. Your generalised observations are of no relevance and soil this forum.
  11. 12. Lovely girls and the occasional big lumpy blokes - one of whom was desparately trying to explain why he called one of the girls a "dog" to said girl, who was less than impressed. Tsk, thats London street theatre for you.
  12. Not had a cold yet, which I usually do get. I had my first ever flu jab a few weeks ago. Food poisoning 2 weeks ago though - which lasted for ages.
  13. I've read the article. At least the journalists managed to avoid making more of a sensation out of it, it is for the most part a statement of alleged fact. Still, a horrible experience. It is to CWALD's great credit that she went through all of that in her earlier life and has gone on to built a strong family and has put down positive foundations for her future career and life. You're a Hero in my book CWALD.
  14. Perhaps the other gormends would like to share their thoughts? Then we can decide where and when we go next >:D< I suspect that for many folks it will be in the New Year BUT I will be up for a curry in December if anybody is up for it. XX
  15. We walked past Foxtons last night and they did seem to have turned the main light off, although the huge TV screen in the window was left on.
  16. OK. I am working from home today, so having put the drying away, listened to Desert Island Discs and written my Peckham shopping list out - I will write a review. Thanks to PeckhamGateCrasher, Sean, UltraConsultancy, Brendan, Mark and LozzyLoz for their magnificent company. TANDOORI NIGHTS Ambience Very pleasent. Its a smallish restaurant with pleasing decor which is not curry-house typical. As the restauant got fuller it did begin to feel a little cosy. Service Attentive and friendly. The serving of the main courses was a little disjointed with some of us waiting for 5 minutes for the arrival of rice and nan after the arrival of the main course. Not a huge problem though. The Head Waiter recognised those members of our party that had been there before and greeted them like old friends, remembering a few personal facts to give that extra touch - "How is your lovely girlfrend?", "Did you get your wife to the hospital in time for the delivery?" That sort of thing. Food Fair to Good. The popadoms and pickles were standard stuff, I had Prawn on Puri to start which was OK, the Puri was not as light as I have had elsewhere and the Prawn sauce was a little dry. My main course was Palak Gosht Handi - a lamb with spinach dish. It was moist without being too wet and oily, seasonin was just right, the lamb was tasty and tender and the dish managed to avoid the over-richnes that I have found in lamb dishes in other curry restaurants. My side dish was aubergine. It claimed to be buttery, but I found that it consisted over overly large chunks of aubergine that didnt taste of that much. Pilau rice and nan were quite standard. Price We had 8 Popadoms and pickles, 4 starters, 7 main courses, 4 rice, 4 (?) breads, about 10 bottled Indian beers, 2 bottles of red wine and 2 diet coke. This came to ?26 each including the tip (?182 in total). We then retired to Liquourish. Which was lovely as were the patrons. All in all we had a great evening. My own feeling is that Tandoori Nights is a good quality Indian Restaurant without being exceptional. The menu is a little different from the norm and as such would be a good alternative to your "regular" post drinks favourite.
