  3. Come the Glorious Day: The Bus Drivers, the Posties, the miserable shop-staff, the lot of them: The First Up Against the Wall. Its the only way.
  4. Perhaps I will just sell my Daughter
  5. Huzzah!
  6. I cant believe Keef's tadpoles will be that badly affected by the beer in that they will always find their way home, eventually. However their need to pop outside for a fag on a regular basis may delay proceedings a little.
  7. So that is Sean, Keef (tbc), Alex and pal, Brendan and me, so far.
  8. You're in, you're in, you're in !! Tuesday or Thursday?
  9. ?Guinness Red, brewed in exactly the same way as Guinness except that the barley is only lightly roasted so that it produces a lighter, slightly fruitier red ale, began test-marketing in Great Britain in February 2007 ? 4.2% abv.? So, that would be Bitter would it not?
  10. Anybody else?
  11. "I'M STILL A BLOODY PUMPKIN!!"
  12. Ergo there is no ethnic cleansing merely the change of the ethnic make-up of the area. As has gone on - forever, with no Moriarty-like mastermind behind it.
  13. Hmmmm - that choice is a toughy Mr Loz :)) .. Are you coming or what!?
  14. Starters? - I like an onion bhaji me, but could be tempted with something more exotic. Good thoughts Sean - things are narrowed down.
  15. Welcome Laura. Of course, one or two may be competitors.
  16. The Fantastic Faux .... ... ooh, wrong thread ...
  17. That challenge would be fauxmidable; but with fauxtitude it would be possible through the use of fauxrensic science.
  18. There are SO may curry houses in the area and the debate about which one is best is never ending. So, lets test. The suggestion is that a group of us eat at the local curry houses in turn, make notes and then post a review. This could be done once a month and by the time of the London Olympics we should have got round all of them. So, when? How about some time next week? I can do Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th. So, where? I suggest one of those in the middle of the Lane to start, then we can gather in a convenient pub beforehand. We can agree the next visit during the meal and I will post the next venue and date so that others can join in. Once we have agreed when and where and who I will book the table. Thoughts?
  19. First post. Well done.
  20. Perhaps Mockney P and the ED Snappers could stake out Goose Green to .... wait for it ...... ...... Fauxtograph the wee beastie?
  21. I hope your meal afterwards helped to ease the pain.
  22. I have been avoiding this tread as I posted it in my "too worthy" box and thought it would be full of the usual class based rock throwing and psuedo-intellectual old wank. Having nothing better to do, I have scanned through the past 4 pages and I was correct in my assumption. How do you know ED is less diverse? It seems to be based on "My neighbours have changed colour" or "there are more cheese shops on the Lane" or "its not like it was in the good old days". To describe this as "ethnic cleansing" or "genocide" is at best crass and at worst shows a breath taking ignorance of history that you should be ashamed of. We are talking about the natural population churn of an insignificant suburb of South London NOT the mass slaughter, raping and maiming of whole populations. Dulwich Park is not the killing fields, Peckham Rye is not the site of a concentration camp. ED is diverse, as diverse as any other part of London. What that diversity looks like changes year by year as the demographics of the city change; and of course you cannot measure diversity by what it "looks" like. Your new Polish neighbours are just as diverse as the West Indian neighbours that used to live there. ED is currently quite affluent, a few years ago it wasnt, at some time in the future it might be on its arse again. For some perspective reas Peter Akroyds "London the Biography" - it describes how the woes of London's chattering classes are the same now as they have been for many hundreds of years - the weather, the drains, immigration, lawlessness, London dirt, traffic, noise, the plague and drunkeness. Well, perhaps the plague isnt a big issue at the moment...
  23. Popped into the Warehouse, chatted to or own EDF representative (bookshop - first stall - good position - bodes well). Cheese place was friendly and quite Welsh - tried a few samples and made a purchase. There is room for more stalls and the Oyster(?) place at the back looked fun, but as I dont like Oysters I didnt try. Staggered back with bread from the Deli, more cheese from the Block, a book from Cheners and some foot cream from the Coop. Fun.
  24. This joke was brought to you by the Green Party.
  25. Jamma - not big, not clever
