  1. A little drizzle of olive oil and lemon juice after cooking is pleasent
  2. Driving licence
  3. http://www.qubesoft.com/images/dino_world_1.jpg The view from my balcony over Oakhurst Grove. During the summer the runner bean canes do rather get in the way.
  4. Keep it clean now, Marquis of Queensbury rules.
  5. I was there last last year and it was very good. Dont know what they have planned this year.
  6. Use a microwave veg cooker like this - plastic basin with an inner sleeve with holes in the bottom. Wash rice, put in inner sleeve add boiling water until it just covers the rice. Microwave at full chat for 12 minutes. Done.
  7. I was rather wishing that I could have attended. Now, not so. Clearly the whole evening was one of hand-bagging and hurling of slings and arrows over up turned furniture. OR Storm in (over-used) cocktail glass. 'tis the season to be jolly ....
  8. EDT = East Duliwch Tavern, the big pub by the Goose Green Island. I dont think that many of the public East Dulwich New Years delebrations will be child friendly.
  9. The Quids' home birth! We could all come and join in the collective experience. How very East Dulwich. Ideas for names anybody? I like: "Ondine Hobo Ladbrokes Quids Esq"
  10. A roller-coaster of a thread. Not being of the Irish persuasion I have abstained from commenting. However, Nice post Dulwich-mum.
  11. I thought you'd gone to bed?
  12. Sorry all - I am feeling unwell and so am spending the evening on my sofa.
  13. This will be the first Forum election and I can see that we can look forward to some calm headed debates. I long gave up tribal affiliations. The Labour party is as vile and venal as the Conservatives, they have been in power for too long and have a touch of the Nero about them (the Roman Emperor not the chain of cafes); and no, I dont think things would be any worse under the Tories, no better but no worse. I am not impressed by any 39 year old that is photographed infront of a Council estate wearing a hoody proclaiming his faith and social mission - a recipe for a messianic megalomaniac if ever there was one. Tessa Jowell has not impressed me, I dont think having a Minister as your local MP serves the local population well as they are too busy elsewhere and are never going to go against the Party line to support the needs of their constituents. I want my MP to represent this constituency, not the "Olympic Boroughs" (ie not Southwark). So, I will wait to see who comes up with the most credible offer and isnt too tainted by sleeze.
  14. "Lesbo knees up"? - I now have to lie down
  15. ... and , at least in the early days, many of the Chefs came from the same area of Bangladesh and so shared the same basic recipes. Still, the food tastes good. I cant help thinking that an expectation that they can serve the quantities that they do and hand prepare all from fresh ingredients is a tad naive.
  16. I walk up and down Ondine Road every day and hadnt noticed the new street lights. We live in an area that is a mish mash of styles and eras so prostesting that they dont fit in is rather swimming against the tide. The street lights at the ED Road end of Oakhurst Grove have been replaced by the most tedious examples of non-designed utilitarian grot it has been my displeasure to view from my balcony.
  17. Now that is very strange. Perhaps one of the Admins hit the wrong button?
  18. Tandoori Nights also differentiates itself through its higher prices; because higher prices mean better food. Obviously.
  19. New Years Eve in Stab and Wine. There's a thought.
  20. Well on that geographical basis Supermarkets would need to be at least 50 miles away from any other shop to avoid competition. Those local shops that survive and thrive do so by adding value in some way whether that is high quality food, easy access, whatever. Its Darwinian on the high street.
  21. As compared to the way it was about 20 years ago - it was tarted up shortly after the Sainsburys opened.
  22. I have eaten about 80% of the choices on the menus of the curry houses of Lordship Lane (I dont like fish) and can confirm that they are quite similar.
  23. Well sort of, I think that Jaflong is a bit different. Mirash is the epitome of traditional curry house and my favourite of old; however they are pretty much the same; it just depends what your own personal tastes are; as the best part of 2 years worth of curry club meetings have evidenced.
  24. You couldnt fit 10 men in the blokes privvy in the EDT. If you did, you couldnt open the door so they couldnt storm out. Are you are it wasnt 9? 9 men could fit in the privvy, open the door and start a Western Saloon Bar style brawl without a problem.
