  2. Macron is doing well at home since his election. There was a fear that as he had no established party as such, he would be a lame duck President when it came to getting his reforms through the French parliament. But his En Marche! movement is now expected to do very well in their up-coming elections, giving him a clear majority to carry them out...https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-france-election-poll-idUKKBN18S5M3

I don't either, I posted at the time the election was called that an increased majority for the Tories won't make a jot of difference to the EU, they will be negotiating on behalf of themselves regardless. My gut feeling was, and still is, that the election was called to enable the Tories to extend their term in office by an extra 2 years post-Brexit, and give themselves more breathing space should there be a serious economic downturn. The reason I posted that link was in relation to the question you had posed earlier... I wonder how badly the Tories would have to do in the election to feel they wanted to ditch TM? As that article says, she can win the election, but unless it's a convincing win she still might get the elbow...

I have very little sympathy for her, it was a power grab by her, a job her husband let slip she coveted for a long time, so much so to go against her beliefs about Brexit...

I thought this was quite a good summary of May's position, if she doesn't get a good majority she'll do well to hold on to power...http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/theresa-may-slips-jeremy-corbyn-climbs-election-polls-brexit-all-over-for-prime-minister-a7767626.html

With Labour chasing down the Tories lead, he was right to say that, it's now all about perceived momentum (no pun intended), win your own votes first and worry about the others later. He could always do a u-turn in the 'national interest', it's not like he could be called out by the Tories for doing so...

In what way will > it be worse than 'no deal', anyone know?... About time someone addressed this meaningless Tory soundbite... Jeremy Corbyn says there is "no such thing as no deal" when Britain leaves the EU. "Theresa May says no deal is better than a bad deal - let's be clear, no deal is in fact a bad deal. It's the worst of all deals," he said, adding that it would leave Britain having World Trade Organisation tariffs and restrictions, instead of the access to European markets that it needs. "Theresa May's approach risks a jobs meltdown across Britain," he says. By contrast, he said, Labour would negotiate a tariff-free deal that benefits both sides
  11. My Dad was a big Baggies fan so I must've sat down with him and watched the '68 Cup Final when they beat Everton, but have no recollection. I can remember the David Webb goal in the Leeds v Chelsea replay, and also Charlie George's winner against Liverpool the following year, but I think the first Cup Final I sat down and watched properly was Leeds v Arsenal in '72 when Sniffer Clarke got the winner...

I'm guessing a Corbyn/May free 'progressive alliance' of the centre/right of the Labour party and centre/left of the Tory party, allied with the SNP/Lib Dems...

I would've thought 'no deal' was as bad as it gets, so I'd like to know what this 'bad deal' I keep hearing is likely to mean. In what way will it be worse than 'no deal', anyone know?...
