  1. This is straight out of some sixth-former's guide to being a revolutionary. There are hundreds of thousands of properties lying vacant, all far more suitable. The one thing lacking is the political will to sort out homelessness. As for saving the Treasury money, don't forget to take off all the income the Royal Family generates for the country. I wouldn't class myself as a Royalist, but give me Prince Charles talking to his plants over a President Trump (Farage!) figure any day...

Which I reckon is about the figure of a hard core that still want Brexit at any cost. It's a pity Corbyn didn't have the balls to offer a 2nd referendum once details of the deal are known. It's not saying there won't be Brexit, just giving people the choice to decide once the full details are known. I don't think that would've put lots of voters off voting Labour, because as is usual at general elections, people were voting for other issues that are more important to them, NHS, Education etc, the bigger picture not a binary choice. For an election that was supposedly to all be about Brexit, very little was mentioned...
  4. I thought the Tory manifesto was only offering MP's a free vote on fox hunting. As for the QS, May would've been given a hard time if she had stuck rigidly to the manifesto, e.g. not in touch with the mood of the nation, not listening to the people etc etc, a case of damned if she did, damned if she didn't, which basically sums up politics in general...

Also Green on Red and The Rain Parade, who were quite trippy. This article lists some more... https://www.theguardian.com/music/2007/nov/02/popandrock

I don't think Greece had much of a leg to stand on when it came to negotiating to be honest. The UK's position isn't good right now, but no where near as bad as Greece's was/is...

  12. Does anyone know what the make-up of Grenfell is with regard to ownership i.e is K&C the landlord, and/or the freeholder, are the flats all rented out to tenants, or are there some owner/occupiers, or private owners who rent out, or a combination of all these? Just trying to get my head around why the tenants would be consulted about the sprinklers in the first place. Tenants come and go, why bother consulting with them, isn't the onus on the landlord/freeholder/block management etc to make that decision and press ahead regardless?...

But the mandarins will be negotiating from the current Tory Gov's position on Brexit, not Labour's. What happens if Labour won a second election? The EU would be perfectly entitled to say, hang on a minute, we could be wasting our time here, as they'd have to revisit everything because Labour has a different position on Brexit. Surely they could only carry on negotiating if there was a common consensus between the two parties to do so...

Would they have to put Brexit negotiations on hold if there was another election before a deal was fimalised?...

  17. It all depends how the sprinkler system was sold to the residents, if they were told the building was going to be covered in highly flammable cladding, then their response might have been different. Regardless, it's a side issue, doesn't detract from what has happened and the need to get to the bottom of it and make anyone guilty of negligence, accountable...

The two parties are miles apart on Brexit, the Lib Dems main selling point at the GE was a 2nd referendum on any negotiated deal. A compromise too far for both parties...

Despite obviously being very pro-Tory I would often read articles in the Telegraph, especially opinion pieces just to get another viewpoint etc for balance. I stopped seeing Tories as the pantomime villain a long time ago. But I noticed since the run-up to last year's Referendum and beyond, with their pro-Brexit stance and giving a disproportionate amount of space to the views of Farage and UKIP, just how far more skewed to the right it has become. Their appalling headlines on the A50 judgement were right up there with the Mail. I could quite happily jump up and down on Asa Bennett's smug, know-it-all centre-parted curtains head.... Booooooooo!... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/Author%20photos/Asa_Bennett-small.png
