I understand now, the 'relief' comes when it's over, in spite of the comics. It is almost as irritating as putting the clocks back or forwards, but as it is only once a year I will go along with it!

SOMETHING TO PONDER OVER Common knowledge? Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 600 employees and has the following employee statistics: 29 have been accused of spouse abuse 7 have been arrested for fraud 9 have been accused of writing bad cheques 17 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses 3 have done time for assault 71 cannot get a credit card 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges 8 have been arrested for shop-lifting 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits 84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year Which organisation is this? It's the 635 members of the House of Commons, the same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us inline. What a bunch of to**er's we have running our country - it says it all. And just to top all that they probably have the best 'corporate' pension scheme in the country . If you agree that this is an appalling state of affairs, please pass it on to everyone you know. It's time to stand up to this lot. Some thing that dropped in to my email box the other day.

Allfornun wrote:-It just shows what a joke this country is when it comes to actually providing things for the citizens of this country who pay a living fortune in Taxes. If I remember correctly much of the refurb is being paid for by lottery cash. So why don't they get on with it?

Denmark Hill, Half moon lane, and Peckham rye. I pulled away from the cones to avoid being done again and the cop walked over and asked why I said I have done it twice already he said wave your card that they give you and they will wave you on.

Idle chatter from the common room suggests the biggest scholarship winners, are often not necessarily the cleverest or brightest in their year, though only a cynic would be swayed by such talk.

Spark67 to reduce the boredom you might download books to your Ipod at a cheap rate from 'audible' who are cheaper than anywhere else and you can sit or lie and listen, and if you nod off you can replay it. This is particularly useful if you are reading a really 'chewy' book by Dickens or some other classic writer. Get well soon Sparky. -

Legaleagle-ish wrote:- Fusion is good cos you get to use all the other ones if you want and the Peckham one has a sauna and steam room. Not in herne hill which is the exception, you still have to pay the full wack, even if you have fusion membership in goose green or the Peckham pulse. Tight arsed gits. -
Industry and shops are reducing in size and number as the recession bites, should the government be exempt? Should politicians be made redundant alongside financial advisers, estate agents, bankers? Should we have excessively large government when the economy is melting faster than ice caps at the poles?

Brendan wrote:-LotR always gives me hope that it is possible to make a film/s that do a book justice. I have seen only one film that could replace the book "A day in the life of Ivan Denisovitch" that movie would have saved you reading the book. Dune the book I loved and was gripped by, but the movie I yawned. I loved lord of the rings book too, but have deliberately avoided the film. They have made some wonderful films of the Dickens classics, but none can replace the reading of the book in my opinion.

I wonder what percentage of innocent men have been 'ravaged' through the divorce courts?

The ideas in this thread are hotting up. Allfornun I must ask the planner before I add anything else but I shall give it a go. Moos, whats a little insanity amongst friends, Laburnam has dodgy seeds? Bigbadwolf, isn't it a little early in this dispute for the big guns?

Sue wrote:- He could take legal action, but if what Bathsheba said is true, he wouldn't win a case in court was what I meant. If only it were that simple, and the judiciary were that reliable Sue. Sadly telling the truth seems to affect few cases persued through our courts of law. Charles Dickens stated in many of his superb novels, and a century and a half later his books remain very pertinent today.

It is glaringly obvious that 80% of the reception staff should be removed, and be replaced by well mannered individuals. Most of the problems would be sorted, although not all. -
When you read past posts of mgmc nothing much new has been said, it has had dire press for years to the most part, with the odd 'shining star' woven in to the fabric of general failure.

I have an eight foot high wall in my garden over which I received about 40 cigarette butts from my neighbour. I spoke to the neighbour and she was horrified and that someone staying with her was responsible. She assured me it would not happen again. A few weeks ago there was another dozen or so butts all in the same place as the previous delivery. I reacted by adding a 4 foot fence on top of the wall. The neighbour immediately called in the Southwark planning department and went 'ballistic' according to the very pleasant ozzie chap who called in to measure the wall and fence, the upshot is that I have to remove the fence when the letter arrives in three weeks. Another neighbour next door to the 'fenced one' has also got involved, to get several courses of brickwork off the top of the wall. The wall was there before the neighbours properties were built, and I assumed was a permanent fixture. Would this be usual to build houses close to a wall (about 6 feet) and 8 years later get it restructured? According to the description in the deeds it belongs to my property, if they are successful in their application who would be expected to pay for it? To maintain the privacy in my garden I asked if I could plant trees he said yes as that is greening the planet. My last question, what would you plant to maintain the privacy of the garden, as the houses are 3 floors high and about 6 feet away from the boundary?
