Are you an apiarist with an empty hive to fill Only you?

I do not think the houses and flats have much to do with it, it is the type of people they put in them that causes the trouble, not the residence.

The plastic in her house resides in her purse, platignum this and gold that.

Is it ok to lie about your salary in an interview?
SteveT replied to LegalEagle-ish's topic in The Lounge
Being a lying crooked robbing bar stud is an essential skill for this reptillian profession, and you warrant a salary commensurate with your talents in this field. ?800 quid a letter or an hour is frequently charged these days I read somewhere. You will no doubt change your posting name to jamscoffin'git or similar when you get this meal ticket confirmed LEish. Best of luck. -
Loose Pit Bull Terrier on Pytchley Road (SE21)
SteveT replied to lily'smama's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was attacked some years ago by a pitbull that had no handler on Brockwell park, and it was all I could do to keep it off me with a stout walking stick, it was a terrifying experience and I never ever walk on a park without carrying one. I cannot blame the dog just the brainless owner who needs to possess such a dog. You have my sympathy lily'smama -
Why not a fenced dog & owners only park, within the park big enough for dogs to run, then all else can be 'on lead only'?

Wouldn't cover the thousands of lurkers who read and may be influenced by, but don't add to, the forum input.

Bullying, intimidation and patronizing by a minority on this site
SteveT replied to poppylucky's topic in The Lounge
It is the first time I have heard of BIG BROTHER admin being weak, I do not feel he/she is weak at all and jumps in almost too readily if you are not very careful just because the law of the land does not want mouthy individuals sticking the boot into this perfectly balanced welfare state. If you stick your neck out on this forum which is full of erudite scribes you can sometimes unwittingly become a 'target'. Hardly surprising as many of the users started posting out of indignation of other posters statements. If you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen Poppylucky. -
This is not a greasy spoon or a cheap eatery, it would do well to take the restaurant decor to the same standard as their cooking and billing.

Southwark plans to be 1st London council to be 20mph thru-out
SteveT replied to PeckhamRose's topic in The Lounge
It will feel as if we are all constantly travelling over Tower bridge, which is a drag as I cannot 'cruise control' below 25mph. I use it all the time to prevent me from inadvertently going over the present limit. -
You are a clever soul Moos, I would never have solved it in yonks, and a yonk is a loooooooong time.

They obviously have caring and responsible parents, nice to have such pleasant neighbours.

Louise noted the disappearance of daffs from Peckham Rye and Park. To quantify a 'theft of daffs' I guess it must be an armfull:-$

My mother dished out sergeant punishment (50% more stripes) to myself and elder brother at home never in public. If we misbehaved in public just a look would do it, if we were in a really stupid mood and refused to acknowledge the 'look' she would pull us to one side and quietly say wait till you get home young man or she would use my full name 'Stephen' that would make me cower. Some days we would become so lairy that we would do it until the clouts came thick and fast and then we would stop. It was being mischievous and full of devilment as my mother put it, and she would only tolerate it for a while and if we did not take heed of the warnings then a clout or two followed. When we got caned at school it was usually justified as we had broken the rules, when caning ceased there was all sorts of disciplinary problems and loutish behaviour because the kids only took beatings seriously, if you were told off you smirked all the way back to the classroom as you had gotten away with it. The worst kinds of parents are the flakey variety, who tell there children off in a tone as if they were offering the culprit an ice cream. Who take their kids to a Sunday lunch in the pub and ignore what miseries they inflict on the rest of the diners, so long as the parent is left undisturbed. Whilst ever children want to test the boundaries, considerate caring parents will feel the need to whack them back in to place. Good!

I am sorry to have gotten your goat northlondoner I had no ill intentions of harming a dumb animal. I will not be travelling my own road with anything as it is illegal and I do try and stay within the law. Why should the vast majority of law abiding citizenry, be persecuted by an unruly minority. If by some chance any of the muggers were caught and sentenced what would happen to them, not nearly enough is the answer on most peoples lips. My fears are confirmed each time a crime like this happens, and they happen all too regularly in my opinion. If a deterrent was in place it would not happen, if they expected to lose a hand, it would stop immediately.

mlewis you have my sympathy for what that is worth, I am sure, if you are like me, would prefer some vengeance. Were the youths a black and white gang or was the bandana black and white? Wouldn't it be good to be armed when these creeps attack, so you can pay them out in full, there and then on the street, because the judiciary we have cannot cope with 21st century urban life. Some years ago there was a commuting guy who paid out five muggers on the train in New York. One of the creeps went towards him waving a sharpened screwdriver in front of his face, "ya got 5 bucks for me man," he said "sure here," and reached into his pocket pulled out his gun, shot all of them and one was still moving "here have another". Muggings dropped by 14% in New York the following year. That case divided New York, all the people who had been mugged felt it was justified, the leftish leaning, bleeding heart liberals of course were incensed and no doubt all the other ne'er-do-wells, but for all the victims of robbery of which there are many, felt that he had finished some unfinished business for which they now had 'closure'. Why should this town become a no-go area after dark, because a handful of uncivilised thieving youth, move around in marauding gangs. We have discussed the vital importance of descriptions of perpetrators before on this forum and if you can think of anything that you can add, it would be helpful not only to the police but also to the rest of the forum. What a dreadful bank holiday you have had better luck for the future.

I agree Huguenot the beeb does produce wonderful stuff, sadly they do not harbour talent in high enough percentages. They seemingly prefer to house managers, administrators, and accountants, rather than creative talent. They do not help themselves to the best of their ability either, it would not cost much to have a +1hour or a +2hour on bbc1 and bbc2 hence doubling your channels for minimum outlay.

When you are self employed you feel, during recession, like that much of the time.

The true test of whether it is value for money is to attempt to sell it's services into the market to compete with Sky and co. Sky packages are much better value if you compare how long one is tuned in to which channels. Since I moved to Sky the beeb are way down the field and I use it less and less. I find it appalling that we do not have the choice to invest, or not, with the Beeb.
