  1. Im ssuroprised that the school issued a note about this - Im not disputing the facts of the letter, but it does seem rather odd - kids dont ususally get dragged off by random strangers, despite what you read in the papers
  2. You are bringing friends South of the River ? havent you read the Papers recently ? Shootings and stabbing on every conrner - why only lats night I was shot at 3 times between ED station & the end of my street.
  3. erm..... why do you think its was called goose green originally ? what does the presence of Geese usually signify ? its fairly obvious its traditionally been a boggy area. Im not going to start my personal underground watercourses of ED & Environs fetish again

  5. word! You dont need the baubles & trinkets of ostentatious wealth - the people who value these baubles - you would probabaly not be in their social sphere much anyway

Most these days dont - they may use block vegetable oil which looks like lard , but in terms of pure cashflow, its more efficient to use veg based oils for a busy chippy. As I said, if its serviced correctly, then BD can work well, but maybe London are slapdash with their cooking and dont take the care tthat they shoud, hence veg. is easier ? 90% of F&C I have had in London is grim rancid mushy fish and sloppy chips.

BTW, Beef dripping "turns" very quickly and taints the food once its overdone- it also needs filtered to get the shite out of it daily - - it takes a great deal of monitoring to get the best out of beef dripping - oil is cheaper, lasts longer and takes more abuse, so is the logical answer to the frying question. There will be a mouth feel difference between BD & Oil and chips have a slightly different texture also.
  8. The shocking thing is that Im currently sitting on the thick end of a 7 figure sum in terms of equity - with no mortgage - its very disconcerting . When squat little flats in the ( less desirable ) streets around me are going for 300-400K , I am utterly shocked . I could pat myself on the back and convince myself I am indeed a smart cookie of Donald Trump level for this astute investment, but its not true Who in their right mind wants to load themsleves up with lets say nearly ?2K a month in repayment for a 90% mortgage for a flat in SE London with no tube ? this is asusmiong you can conjour up the right multiples to get the loan in the first place - though Im sure some helpful estate agent will assist you in procuding the requisite high multiplier loan you need The rationale behind the logic of paying this amount for a flat is twisted.
  9. Unfort, I would probabaly be conscripted into the ranks of cleansers for this particualr turf war - can I be a conscientous objector instead ? or maybe an umpire ?
  10. I think DD is being deliberatly antagonistc. I hate it when people make antagonistic posts

It may be crass, but when a thread used terms like Cleansing in its title, it does rather invite this tyope of nanalogy. YOu are right of Course -( too much info )

I did witness a raised voice and an audible tutting on the saturday morning Queue at the ED Deli. IThe staff were definately worried that a heated discussion was about to break out over the ?1.50 criossants - Scarey times we live.LIkbe NYC in the '70s Tool up the coppers now, that Wot I say
  13. I am ole skool and let people on who were there before me. I am not however afraid to make my feelings felt when someone does elbow their way in - sometimes peppered with degrading abuse and words that no one should have to hear on public transport, should the pusher respond in an impolite manner.

  15. community spirit = people of similar outlook to yourselves all this constant bleating about community is shorthand for ethnic cleaning - although unlike General Ratko & his Regu8alrs, this particualr variant of ethnic cleansing uses economic forces to drive the unwanted out, rather than masssed roundups of males and a one way trip in the back of a lorry to the forests of Kosovo. Every time I see a brace of black kids wander down Lordship lane, I see a hundred " I *heart* ED" bags gripped tightly by white knuckles and bugaboos pushed onward, a look of steely determiniation in the eyes of the parent. Once upon a time you sued to have arguments in SE London and pushing in bus queues etc usually resulted in a few secionds of raised voices, maybe a few B movie threats & then everybody got on with things - now its Paddington Bear hard stares and smug comments in loud whispers to their croc wearing partners. Women with bad haircuts & a head full of school league tables, men with Crocs & Ironic glasses. Im sure someone here could bastardise Cromwells infamous Connaught statement & tailor it to modern day ED.
  16. I have no beef with Lidl - the scumbags that have taken on the role of guardians of the car parks are a worthless, bullying, slimy bunhc of turds. I am making a formal complaint to Lidl about their approach & use of bogus court papers in an effoprt to bvully & mislead - ist is also a criminal attempt to obtain money by deception - but from past experience with East Dulwichs Boys in Blue, I would probabaly find myslef locked up in the nick on a charge of " interrutping their tea break" or soemthing as trite
  17. bugger! I want to don the cloak on anonimity here, but am happy to spill the beans on the heinous parking people - not Lidl itself tho'
  18. "They say a house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it... Well when will people start to think maybe they're paying a bit too much?!?!? " Sometimes humans make decisons that in another light seem absurd, but you can only make a decision depending upon the uinriamtion that you get to think about - people are rarely in full control of the information they receiveand are not able to filter out the "shite" from the the "good" info
  19. long days at work with nothing to do:(
  20. Yo I actually went swimming , then went to Lidl & nasty poundstretcher - a total of about 2 hours, when apaprently parking is limited to one hour
  21. Hooray! After going through the process of refuting responsibility for ?340 worth of "fines" for parking in the Lidl car park in Peckham - behind Burger King , I had gave them a full broadside of legal jaron and regulation and within about 2 days, the have cancelled the "fines" and withdrawn their scaremongering of court action and summonses blah blah blah So if you get one of these private patking fines - supermarkets and retail parks are using contractors to monitor their car parks nowadays - hold firm - these fines are pretty much unenforceable under civil law , however much they threaten court action. etc
  22. "Out in East Dulwich last night, it struck me that, overall, East Dulwich does not appear to sport a particularly good-looking populace. Not as bad as Nunhead, obviously. But there is a grimy, potatoey sheen to most of the people you see on the streets of SE22. Now, I?m no Adonis myself. But there?s no doubt the inhabitants of some other areas of town are more consistently pleasing to the eye. On the Kings Road or on Battersea Rise, for example, the overall radiance of passer-bys ? male and female ? is high. Islington, too, isn?t bad. " How dare tyhese people offend your value system. l'll get to work in it right away. Yes, generations of poor nutrition, hard work, low pay and unhealthy eating do take their toll- Dont worry though, Ill have a word with these troglodytic proles and ask them to move to Dagenham or somewhere they may be more at home, and you can sort out the migration of Beautiful people into the area. Ethnic cleaning for ED.
  23. Interestingly, I met a quite well known *local artisan* at a place in the area where people take their offspring on sunday mornings for some family time - he is going to be doing some work for us in the near future, but I digress - conversation as all about property and he was earnestly seeking opinion as to future direction of the housing markets & Return of Investment/ Yields / blah blah blah etc, as I do have some *vague* idea of what is going on. People do not sneak a copy of Razzle back to their bedsits any longer, for some *special personal time*, rather they arm themselves with the Sunday Times property section and a copy of Living south for its full colour spread, fully explict, in depth internal shots, uncensored, property section. a sign of the times indeed
  24. Its more of a reflection on the commodification of everything - I am not a sad old marixst BTW - but shops and retail opportunities dont make an area, its the people and dare I say it, community, that make an area.
