  1. I nearly choked on my fantasy crab sandwich. This 'writer' is pretending he's OK and that it's OK to muck-rake on another human. The fact that Lady Mills-Mac is a fantasist does not in any way justify haranguing her, and the Mirror journo is simply trying to do that. It's all very grubby. Nero
  2. I'd finally be able to buy a crab sandwich at Chandelier. Nero
  3. I like this both ways. If he is genuine, it is fun. If it is a forumite doing an Osbourne, then it is even more fun! Nero
  4. Not me. Bacon sarnies I eat about 4 times a year, parma ham just a little bit here and there, and I love steak. But I think that eating more f and v and drastically reducing sugar and bread etc. is a good idea. Nero
  5. Abso-bloomin'-lutely! Blue Peter editor goes because of Cookie-gate but Blair's cop kills an innocent man and he stays. Sheesh. Nero
  6. Of course she has been treated badly - but why do people who try and use the press constantly to their own advantage bleat about it when the worm turns? I don't think she's bleating, as that implies powerlessness and the very reason she had a 'breakdown' (er, she didn't, she cried in frustration) on TV was because she was promoting her latest cause, which is actually a commonsensical one. She wants to see the press offer proper damages to people it wrongly pursues or vilifies for no good reason. Seems fair to me. She's a social alpinist, she married very well, she's had a shady past, but she really doesn't deserve to be hounded, for that is what it is. And she is smart and savvy - witness her acknowledgment of what the Guardian called her ex's 'Scouse chumminess' which allows him to be the victim and the victor at the same time. And is there sexism involved here? What do the women think? I think there is. Nero
  7. Has Heather Mills-Macca been unfairly treated by the press. On the whole, I'd say yes. She seeks publicity, but the journos responsible have seen a fault line and keep trying to widen it. Nero
  8. Just watched the documentary on BBC 4 about Joy Division and Factory Records and noted that Mike Pickering looks very, very like the Spitting Image of Ronald Reagan from the 80s. Anyone else see it? And Hooky's new teeth gave him a Wallace/Nick Park animal look. It was the overbite. Good doc too - they'll prob repeat it soon. Nero
  9. I am scratching my head to try to remember bad service, but I can't. The Green has been a bit hit and miss, but not unpleasant. SMBS is good, as is ChiChiRaRa and Omrith and The Drum. Nero
  10. I got knocked on about 8 times last night. It was nice at first, but then it just got formulaic. I did try to be cheery and to admire the costumes, but on the whole I thought it was a bit flat. The ones that got my vote were the group that told me a joke, just to show their gratitude. I knew two lots of callers, the rest were strangers. In the US where the festival is so much more part of the culture it is so much easier to get in the thick of it, rather like Bonfire Night is here where there is a real sense of excitement and community (oh dear, I said the 'c' word.) 11. I spent about six weeks photocopying seven hours a day. I loved it! I was about 16 and was my first real job in an office. The thought that I was making my own money thrilled me. Probably completely OD'd on ozone, but it meant I had lots of spends in the sixth-form. Nero
  12. I just don't see how just because a foetus doesn't look like a fully-developed baby one can delude onseelf into thinking it is somehow not human. It is human, but at a very early and very singular stage of development. I argue that it is impossible to deny that and that is why I was very brass tacks, Mockney. I believe sincerely that taking the life of a thumb-sized foetus is as bad as taking that of an adult or child. The fact that there is a sanctioned and systematic structure in place to facilitate such actions is even more distasteful. If you accept what I've said, then all the talk of 'viability' and '20 weeks' loses all meaning. If it counts for anything, I think the death penalty is also wrong. Nero
  13. Hmm. All in all, I am against abortion. The idea of one human delving into another human's body to kill and then remove another human being in-the-making is truly disgusting. Nero
  14. I was stuck for something to do tomorrow. Think I might go in and peruse. Nero
  15. Goodrich Road, near to Dunstan's is extremely quiet at night, with hardly any sounds for hours. Nero
  16. Ryedale is not cheap and scruffy. It is perfectly pleasant and has 'improved' over the past few years. It's pretty quiet and is near to Peckham Rye Park, not that far from Dulwich Park, has a decent parade of shops with at least three good restaurants and two pubs nearby and a bus route nearby too. I live on Goodrich and wouldn't want to live further down the hill. Nero
  17. Do kids still bob for apples? I used to really like that. Nero
  18. If the pumpkin ain't shockin' don't come a' knockin'? Nero
  19. Sounds like having cake and eating it. Why have a telly on when you can't listen to it? (PS I am not a footy fan and have never watched a game in a pub, but it's like advertising your wares and then saying, no you can't have them.) Nero
  20. I am the same with cheap cider. I used to drink it loads. Once I burnt my gullet with it I had so much and couldn't swallow properly for days. It is BAD!
  21. PP, What rot! Why should people who don't like boom-boom cars and other anti-social and possibly illegal activities not voice their sentiments? I agree with you that the road should be opened, but that does not preclude those who live on it and wish it to remain closed from speaking about their - justified - concerns over the yobs. There is a them and us in Camberwell. I am a them as I don't live there, but a lot of the place is shoddy and ugly. The attitude is not outdated, and only when we reach true harmony will such a phrase no longer need to be used. Nero
  22. How about Xenoria? Might be even fewer of those and the pronunciation is the same. Nero
  23. The station should be cleaned and scrubbed and maintained. Also, the area directly around it should be beautified as much as possible, but I hold out little hope as it involves rail companies, politicians versus a small number of committed people. Nero

    Strange tats

Saw a bloke at the gym today who had a recycle sign (the three squarish arrows in a triangle shape) as well as the Keep Britain Tidy man - the one that bends at the waist to drop something into the bin - tattooed on his upper right arm. Novel, eh? Any other fun tats you've seen? Nero
