  1. Not sure if this has been done before. (Did a search, but nothing came up.) I'm a journalist (and like to think that my surfing on this site helps me keep up my zeitgeist.) Nero
  2. Let's be realistic. The place is awful to drive through, mainly due to congestion. Getting rid of the dodgy toilets and a relatively small amount of park would be a good thing. The park is massive and can sustain a bit of a loss. Nero
  3. I really like wearing a jacket, even if it is a corduroy affair. Unfort, I can rarely get one to fit me properly due to my height and long arms. The large ones tend to billow out at the back. But a good fitting suit can be very empowering and can make you feel hot and cool at teh same time. Nero
  4. There is anothe film out that looks at Moore's reputation, arguing that he is selective in his argumetns and uses his films and themes to self=promote. I haven't seen it, but there is a danger that he is now a 'brand'. Nero
  5. I don't like 'motherfucker', mainly because it is American and has lost its exocitism due to NY-LON wannabes saying it as much as they can. I like 'bloody' and 'bleeding', the latter being the 70s and early 80s version of 'fucking' in my household when I was growing up. I like the idea of a gradation of swear words according to their offensiveness/acceptability. Nero
  6. Song for Mutya - Groove Armada Sound of the Crowd - The Human League Nero
  7. Any intelligent guess as to how much one will cost? I've got some TSB school savings to cash in.....Nero
  8. Nope, been to Singapore, and it's too hot. I just like people who treat others well. If that means that they also obey laws then all the better. Civility is declining, and it is precisely that which makes like more stressful. Do you like it when you see people drop litter on the bus? When they instinctively put their shoes on the seats on trains or the bus? When they push in front of you because they can't be bothered to join the queue? Do you think that these things don't shriek of 'sod you, I don't care that others are around, I'm going to do as I please (maybe because I have little control over parts of my life so I rebel in this way)'? Those things stress me out much more than my job or foreign travel or being late for an appointment. I don't want to criminalise anyone, but I do want respect (and not the bling version of it, which translates to 'fear me, or I'll do you in') and common courtesy. Now, was that milk or lemon Mr/s Frisco? Nero
  9. I liked the Bellenden area, but I do feel there is a bit of an enclave feel to it. It's nice, friendly, leafy, but not marvellous and breath-taking. Nero
  10. You could always organise entry-level law breaking, perhaps with a taster course of cycling on pavements and red light burning. Nero And yes, that was a joke. Nero
  11. Hmm, don't disparage the ones that are doing a decent job, parent wise. If the DDs and YMs are instilling good values and being as good a parent as they can when they're not traipsing up LL, then good for them. Nero
  12. At least one, actually. It was in the paper the other day. Chav, it's illegal. Whether it is wrong or right is a different thing. It's effing annoying and often done in an aggressive way. What's your stance on running red lights and not stopping at zebras? Nero
  13. Ha! It's virtual as it was never there in the first place as I never bought it. Piled on the pounds and ditching the booze is the best way to go. Empty calories, you know! Nero
  14. Disagree Frisco. There is no need to run a zebra crossing. There is no need to ride a bike on a pavement. There is no need to run a red light. All three are potentially dangerous and should not be tolerated. See what I mean about 'allowing' infractions, with that 'oh, well, it's not as if it's murder or something'. People get killed, injured and disabled by cyclists, motorists, bike-riders doing illegal things. Nero
  15. Yup. And so is Icepick Headache (which I had once and that's what the neurosurgeon called it). To keep it on topic, I went into the ESPH and had cordial and polite service from the man there. I'm going for look-see this arvo. Nero

  17. It's called the Fentix Cube My friend invented it. What do people think? Nero
  18. Tonight - Steak, spinach, pepper and rocket salad, fruit and yoghurt. No booze. Nero
  19. Amelie, there is a lawlessness. Laws being broken don't have to be big. I don't suggest at all that murder rates are sky high or that everyone is on the fiddle. What I mean is that there is a lack of civility in our urban societies, and the 'little' lawa as some might call them get broken so many times that it becomes the norm. And when someone tries to put it right or at least draw attention to it, they are accused of scaremongering. It is illegal to ride a bike on the pavement, but our police officers rarelhy prosecute. It is illegal to smoke dope in the street, but again, it has kind of become accepted in some parts. Please don't underestimate the sigificance of these infractions. I don't have children, but if I did, I would be very active in trying to make sure these 'little' lawss were adhered to. Nero
  20. There is a general lawlessness in Britain now. Kids have always drunk and smoked early, and parents have often turned a blind eye. But now, the parents themselves are not stopping at zebra crossings, rushing through amber lights, pushing ahead in queues, cycling on pavements, littering. I'm not a Mail reader, but I do sympathise with some of them who can see basic civilities disappearing. Small things like that have a big effect on one's moral and well-being.
  21. We've got venetian blinds, which are mucky. (My nana might call them 'shit 'arbourers'.) Do those cleaners actually work, the ones you slide along the slats? Any other ways of doing it efficiently, as it looks like a looooong job to me. Nero
  22. Call the cops. Nero
  23. I very often see them walking in twos, along LL, which is naff. They could split up and cover two beats. Nero
  24. Great idea. Get them to score for us, as well, I reckon. What say? Nero * This post does not mean that the writer condones drug use or abuse.
  25. Why do they walk in threes? It effs me off. Two, maybe, but preferably, one at a time, please. That way, more of the beat could be plodded. Also, if they do get caught and it's cos of the Forum, then that's a good news story for the Southwark Bugle. Nero
