  1. No-one knows :) In reality, I think it will allow schools that want to to go selective..many won't as all the principled left wing people will give anything selective a swerve naturally* *exceptions being Harman, Corbyn, Seaumus Milne, Shami Chakabrati, Emily 'hate the plebs' Thornberry, Diane 'the marxist' Abbot...I could go on (AND ON) but you get my drift

Agree with this. So let's ditch Socialism as the abject failure it has been proved on so many occasions as a starter :)

Wealth - reflecting an increased in asset prices didn't but I think income has....
  5. I'm with Jeremy - thank god, up until now I thought it was only me who thought it was disappointing. Very underwhelming for me personally, but we are in a small minority!
  6. Nice spot nxjen - vaguely remembered Louisa had posted on this before but hadn't realised she'd had such a major change in her opinion on the bush :)
  7. If i was being pick I think "East Dulwich has changed imeasureably in the last decade" is better as in the last 2 decades - not really been a material change since 2006 but has since 1996

You're wrong on this as the stats show that survival rates on a pedestrian-car collision at 20mph are far and significantly higher than at 30mph. Basically , in layman's terms, if you're hit at 20mph the chances are you survive, if you're hit at 30mph the chances are you don't.

Brought down by his own arrogance and avarice when he finally had the only job he ever really wanted - i just about have enough human empathy to feel a tiny winy bit sorry for him I'm sure this has absolutely gutted him, but he's still trying to say it's not really his fault - no self-reflection in this bloke at all.
  12. i was talking his delivery rather than content Blah :)
  13. As an aside - Corbyn's definitely improving his speaking skills was far more confident today and looks like he was addressing conference and the TV audience rather than one of his tedious rallies, he's stepped up a fair bit on this
  14. Ok, given the reviews, i am going to pack up my cynicism and try Xoco with the family
  15. Left wingers tend to favour hope/optimism over reality/facts - which is why so many times failed socialism still gets the the run out every so often to impoverishment of everyone :) I'd like PR now - let there be a truly radical socialist party (and I think it's now Labour- which is bit scary given their 'brand strength) but give us something new in the middle so I can vote again ; Clarke (Tory) and Kendall (Labour) are my cup of tea
  16. Retire from 'corporate life' if I had the means yes but plenty of more lifestyle jobs to keep you ticking over and a bit of spare cash. I was self-employed for quite a few years before I set up a company with some others likewise and liked the flexibility and relative freedom that gave me If he's got kids, and been used to a high income and with life expectancy he must have a hell of a pension pot and mortgage paid off? 55 was definitely on my horizon when I was 40 and had just sold my company and had bugger all mortgage on a peachy warehouse flat - but then my first kid came along unexpected and then 2 more planned so plans changed, house needed, so now suspect I'll still be at the toil at 65+! I did have 2 years voluntary out of work in my 40s - one travelling the other with my first kid and a bit of time living in Spain not working. So ok with work at the moment and just piling as much cash as I can into my pension.

I give you the great Polly "Moaneybee" "At one conference meeting when a speaker said Labour must win some Tory votes, someone shouted out: ?Why? We don?t want Tories!? So I find myself arguing dry psephology against passionate conviction. It?s depressing, but here?s the Fabian Society?s analysis: Labour needs 104 seats in England and Wales and 40% of the vote to win. In the marginals, four out every five of the extra votes must come from those who were Tory last time. Even if the young are energised and turnout soars to Scottish referendum heights, it gets nowhere close. Even if every single Liberal Democrat and Green vote went Labour, that only gives 29 seats. Even if Ukip were crushed, its vote divides equally Labour and Tory. As Labour wins radical votes, it risks losing moderate votes to the Tories: 2% went that way last time. Read the research yourself and groan. It hurts."

can we all now point & shout at BFS "careful what you wish for" Still, he'll have a 100% record :)

  22. Is Corbyn competent? Is Corbyn a hypocrite? Is Corbyn pursuing an outdated ideology? Is Corbyn who I'd want in charge of this country's defences? Is corbyn who I'd want in charge of this country's economy? Is Corbyn ruled by Dogma? Are Corbyn's friends and allies decent people who'd I'd trust? Is Corbyn flexible? Is Corbyn honest about his long term goals for this country? The answers to all of these questions are clear cut to me and all ones that mean I NEVER want him as Prime Minister. But I'm just a 'rightist' dupe of the MMS media blah, blah, blah I just hope the Labour Party refinds its sanity - not hopeful PS my use of blah blah blah was not a reference to the poster of the same name :)
  23. He doesn't care about the coverage it just means he and his lot can all bang on about corporate/MSM etc etc - and how social media is the way forward and we get to some sort of laughable equivalence between the BBC and The Canary, Post fact world nowadays - thanks social media.
  24. The things that actually encourage wealth creation among entrepreneurs are - low CGT, Low business tax, light regulation, tax breaks on business investment and flexible labour laws - now, what do we think is going to be Labour's policy on all/most of them? John McD/Corby, Momentum - all socialists (with a far few marxists thrown in) we have empirical evidence from the whole of the last century and the first 16 years of this on just what a success socialism has been when it comes to wealth creation....

Absolutely terrible and not much to be optimistic about except we're not bottom - I'd give Bilic 5 more games to turn it round. And I wouldn't have BFS back before you ask.
