  1. Barry out for a month...so got to be doubtful
  2. Labour share of the vote 29%, LDs 23%....and according to Tony Q that's the end of the LDs as a political force.......
  3. If Harman's ever PM I'm emigrating for sure. I've also just seen her husband interviewd he's exactly the same as her - belligerent, old school, 'we know what's best for you pleb' material too. They're welcome to each other.
  4. Full results in Dulwich & Norwood Minute swing to LDS from Labour 10 percentage points increase in turnout
  5. Well, the british electorate has largely voted on fear and proved itself pretty, small c, conservative. BNP failure excellent I was really worried and now the often held assumption that all white east londoners are racists idiots can be put to bed.
  6. If it's Brown I'll consider emigrating. Clegg would have had a chance with a better result say 70+ seats. Milliband maybe but the LDs and Labour combined won't have a majority.
  7. I think we'll have to do it all again far too soon.
  8. PS Highlight of the night for me and absolutely delighted that the BNP came third in Barking and were trounced by Labour
  9. Labour to LD swing of 0.1% in D&N Whoopedoo! I think that the election has shown is that the British people are a deeply conservative (with a small c) people and don't really want change. ....another election within a year...great :(
  10. Exit polls say Tories don't quite make it and Lib Dems down 2 seats....
  11. Britain hopefully wont't need bailing out because its debt obligations are more long term, its credit rating remains strong so interest payments are low, and its tax collection is pretty efficient and, depsite the moaners, it has an economy based on firmer foundations than olive oil, tourism and registering a few ships. However, similar to Greece, Britain does now have a way too big Public Sector payroll built on debt over the last few years and largely done so out of political expediency. This will need to be trimmed significantly, which will be painful and the false expectations set up by Gordon's spending spree based on 'no more boom and bust' and - swallow this hard Guardian readers- massive tax revenues largely off the back of those awful bankers will now be shattered, painfully. We're back to Mr Micawber. Edited 'cos even I don't like a split infinitive
  12. What happened to the 'greek sisters' by the way?
  13. Rafa goes so does Torres/Mascherano and probably Gerrard....
  14. I agree Peckham - the cuts that are coming are going to be substantial, unavoidable and will happen whoever gets in. Labour has hidden this as they can beat the Tories with the 'cutting party' stick and didn't even do their three year spending plan - as has been the norm recently - for entirely political reasons and leading to uncertainty, I think that's disgraceful; the Tories warned of the austerity to come in the autumn and subsequently saw their poll scored drop. The LDs have at least got into a bit more detail of their plans but still woefully short. Broadly though they all don't want to tell us BUT to some degree we don't want to hear. Welcome back to the 70s.
  15. Very good Sean
  16. and the BNP ...You Caaaant
  17. I think Harry's always been a decent manager. However, some of his previous clubs would argue at times he's put his own personal wealth above his clubs best interests and has 'alledgedly' done this illegally...I believe he was quoted a few years back as saying something like "Any Premiershop manager who hasn't got a few bob is a bit stupid". Certainly West Ham fans by and large believe that he cheated West Ham for his own personal gain vis a vis the players he signed with the Rio money. Now standards have at least improved thanks to scrutiny then he's once again shown he is a decent manager. Interesting to hear Ratty's view if he's about.
  18. I think it's a massive win for Tottenham - realistically next year the big '5' look like being Man U, Arsenal. Chelsea, Spurs now and, with their money, Man City...Liverpool fans must be worried.
  19. Consult the Oracle....
  20. That would be a Portillo moment
  21. ????

    I say no to Lib-dem

KD has graduated with a First and is the outstanding pupil of the year. 10/10
  22. If (when?) Brown goes I think Labour will have a very bitter internal row as the odious Balls will stand (and is the dirty fighter). Either of the two Millibands would make me at least reconsider in the future - Balls is an old school, statist, talk down to the electorate, concentrate on the opposition rather than running the country 'Brown' type, without Brown's intellect. There's huge strife in the Labour party between the blair and brownites.
  23. You thinking of supporting Tottenham next year Mick?
