  1. I think it compares to a pub (as in a proper old school one with a mixture of clientele rather than just one demographic)when I first joined it was smaller and had the air of a local generally welcoming if you respected the local feel (which was occasionly the Slaughtered Lamb) so newbies were welcome if they made a 'proper' entry, nice, quiet buying eveyone an online round..noisy strangers were viewed with suspicion by some...as it's got bigger it's inevitably got louder and a bit less local..especially at the weekends, this means there's plenty of conversations, including many that you're not intersted in, but it's very noisy so finding the ones you like is more difficult as is finding your mates...like an old school pub it has characters, conventions, wind up merchants, occasional random strangers,,,,but I like it more and more TREBLES ALL ROUND

  3. What snorky said....him and I are unlikely anarchist bedfollows..
  4. The true faith being spread in bandit country......we haven't had so much fun down here since the Cantebury Arms..

....has the East Dulwich season started? I hadn't realised but I've noticed many people at it this weekend and my rod's still in the loft
  9. Oh give it a rest and also look at your own prejudices about chavs, class, looks, diction....actually just let it lie
  10. Andy....what bait have you got on that hook mate?
  11. gawd, as the more astute have pointed out, but many people STILL seem to have completley missesd, the wonderful irony of a Home Secretary in a governemnt that has done more than any other since the war to erode our right to privacy and intrude in our lives for *security* being snitched on by her neighbours** is delicious... **twice a week during term time neighbours
  12. Little boy is in the bath points at his balls and says to his mum, "mum, mum, are those my brains?" she replies, "Not yet darling, not yet".
  13. "Resident checking, check points and some sort of barrier" FFS...I'd honestly rather we had some crime...
  14. I remember someone being 'executed' outside the Peckam Rye Hotel in 1994 as he left at 2am in the morning....we're in London. The difference then was that he was 40s and white and the inference was that it was gangland....maybe this was too..although the modern version Tragic and awful but not just a recent thing
  15. I think andy is in the irony gang Sean
  16. Get real people, she's a journalist, they tend to be lazy and write crap...albeit sometimes eloquently. I can't help giggling at the outrage at this piece, just because it's saying SE22 is SE15 compared to lack of comment on the acres of newsprint everyday that are wrong, bad and often dangerous......
  17. The best part of 15 years in her consttuency and I don't think I even had a visit from any Labour Party canvasser let alone her royal vileness....still, the only time I ever got a labour canvasser in SE22 was '97....and they were right things did only get better.. *searches for hugely ironic smiley*
  18. ,,,,hugenot do you work for a meter company or something.. ANECTDOTALLY....which I know you hate... I live in Fellbrigg Road....with the exception of Saturday am parking isn't a problem...it's just not needed Where there are parking restrictions you get the joy of tickets adminsutered after 6 mins in a 5 min spot outside a nursery as happened to my missus last week You get tickets falsley given - which I have personally have happened twice and managed to get overturned...this involves appealing in the face of ever threatening letters and escaalating fines and finally having it dropped if you say you are willing to go to court with witnesses...you get no recompense, or even an apolgy from Southwark, forthe stress and inconvenience of all this which is in effect challenging an illegal action on their behalf. Friends/relatives visiting fromout of town......nowhere to park or getting up at 8am and moving the car and then doing this every 2 hours until 6pm....yeah, thank's for letting us stay. If your permit is deemed to be illegaly placed KERCHING...more money for Southwark to spend Diversity Monitors at ?40K a year.. Plus we are entering a recession and rather than ignore traders who have experienced this in Peclham/HH and Greenwich and 'risk' that restrictions will cause no problem for traders on the Lane (after all we have no evidence)let's not give them another burden in hard times. Finally, I hate to bring it up, but you, not quite on yor own, but certainly most vocally, keep questioning any of us who fight parking in SE22, when you have no intention of ever returning and won't have to face closed shops and parking nazi's eagerly waiting at the end of our roads at 7.59am.
  19. laudably, it appears the only prejudice you don't have is racism...well done
