  11. A bit sad that all of our examples of 'decadence' seemed to be linked with drink/drugs specifically around outside hours and locally...not very imaginative (or really that decadent).

  20. I dunno I recall a decadent journey.... ....We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive..." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas. And a voice was screaming: "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?"
  21. ok, fair enough. I'll rephrase Opposition seems to largely be based on a mixture of rural Nimbyism or the current cause celebre among the 'radical' ....
  22. I'd like to see some proper science on this rather than you know, shouting - the current cause celebre of the left is my cynical view. US fracking transforming their economy and geo-politics at the moment......
  23. Anyway, as SJ hasn't, here's my alter ego's angle http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jan/11/one-law-for-polanski-another-for-ched-evans THIS: Alternatively, if a serious sex conviction should cost a footballer his entire career (along with the professions routinely closed to sex offenders) then a similar vigilance should, surely, be applied to discernible sleazebaggery in any other profession, from whistleblowing to royal work, where clemency might be mistaken for approval
