Train line to Blackfriars
SeanMacGabhann replied to clairelouise's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I get the bus (any which goes to E&C) - takes 20 minutes early morning and walk the rest to Blackfriars - another 20. But if you are going to Southwark, call it a 10-15 minute walk So 30 mins easily doable -

eh? When did I say you were offensive Declan? I haven't even implied it! You were lobbing things my way yesterday which I took time to reply but you ignored me (fireworks thread) I genuinely have no idea what your beef is with me My quote (from someone lots of people haven;t heard of, but don't let that stop you looking him up - he's ace. I've seen him at least 3 times in venues in East Dulwich. So not that obscure)... but my quote was meant to indicate I agreed with Quids point in general - but because of the state we are in we can't have that level of debate yet What IS your problem with me ?? How was my post parish priestish? -

I'm keen to not talk about Tony when he can't answer (directly) back - although his typing skills clearly aren't atrophying - but re-reading that other thread did bring back some points I want to make, but without trying to slander anyone! 1) The way an intelligent debate was swung around (by Tony) to the topic of race (repeatedly) was a real flashback - It happened time and time again on countless threads. I'm not saying that makes him racist by the way - just really really tiresome. It could have been about model trains and it would have had the same effect 2) I think the accusation of slandering Tony is overstated - I said something about a dark undercurrent (a la Widdecombe) and Jeremy said that one of his posts read like something the BNP would come out with. Not a massive slander either way and I don't think they misrepresent. Jeremy's comment in particular is verifiably correct - Again it doesn't mean Tony is racist, it was just pointed out to him that a the language he used in the small hours sounded like a BNP pamphlet - 3) He accused people ("the illuminati") of not engaging with him because they considered themselves superior - but I read repeated attempts by several people to directly address his points. He started asking me about Ireland and Irish and when I responded he accused me of moving the goalposts - maddening! For Hal to describe that initial thread and argument from Tony as "coherent" beggars belief as well. Tony might be right, but coherent he ain't I definitely agree with quids that when it came to Tony and Huguenot engaging things went off the rails - but nor do I think Tony is too much of a victim. Tony knows what he is doing all the time. He's a clever old cove -

Had you had a few last night Declan? The Latin is a common phrase, indicating even people you trust doing the same as everyone else - in this case Leagle starting (yet another) thread on fireworks Mild joke admittedly - Asking admin to include a search function is another mild joke - ie there IS one already. Nowt to do with any "connection" Why is it mean for you to specifically as about slinking away? I used slink away because a) "slink" is a great word b) the whole post was a silly arc of a joke, with the "punchline" being the equivalent of "I'll get me coat" This place is getting way too serious

I think the cost is ?10 million, but I suspect the damage would be far worse than that. If Liverpool (or Arsenal - we haven't qualified yet) were to not reach the first knockout stages, the demoralising effect on the rest of the season is what I would worry about most All too easy to imagine form dropping, not making a top 4 slot and missing out on next years competition. Goodbye to big name talent in the summer and a downward spiral to mediocraty

"Honest Partner"??? That's a rubbish phrase by the way - I retract it. But the gist of what I mean is there

Ireland is an island. I would also say it has sceptical tendancies. And rebellious. Sure, didn't you nearly beat us in that 800 year thingumajiggy But it's also a fairly respectful and honest partner in things EU. And whilst it's true it needed the money and the help.. well that could well be the UK soon And if your suspicion that it's a small metropolitan group of enthusiasts is true, it must be true only in this country. And the media is largely hostile to the EU as well in this country so again the question is ... well it's not a question any more it's more of a scream of frustration The constant anti-EU feeling seems to boil down to "If you make us work fewer hours Brussels, we'll get so upset we'll vote UKIP and BNP!" It just seems nuts silverfox points out (quite rightly) that the EU ain't perfect but what is? And it still seems preferable to work together than to have this odd, seperatist mentality. This country will need the EU far more than the EU needs it in a few years time. I would start the groundwork now...
