Really? so the traders at Investment Banks get paid a lot of money because it's that money they trade with? Oh wait no, they get paid to play with the much larger pools of capital available to them courtesy of their employers So that analogy doesn't work does it ?

what keef said I think the players have to shoulder a fair amount of the blame on this - they seme to have existed in a "let's see what happens" state of mind for quite a long time now And Emerson - if enough people are pointing the finger at you at least have pause for thought and think it might be you and not them?

Yep, I see why people would go for those things but do I think enough people would do it to warrant local shops staying open? Chicken and egg I guess but if I was a gambling man (or someone with a small shop on LL selling good cheese or bread ) I?m thinking an extra 3 hours wages and bills and time for the x number of punters might not be worth it

Apart from meat and fish, what is it people need to buy late at night that can be sourced from the Turkish shop or Nisha?s (to pick two examples)

So a fishmonger selling fresh seafood (and we can agree it's likelier to be fresh than supermarkets? yes/no? hence the probablility of a supermarket having them ) runs out of a line and it's not enough that you are upset about it but you have to call them Morons instead? Tough crowd

I'm no supermarket user but had cause to pop in to the co op at just after 6 and was gobsmacked by the place. It was almost worse than Dorothy describes. Ive never seen a shop like it

Hmmm - yes and no MM. Of course I didn't believe Cameron back then and I think I have said on a couple of occasions that if VAT going from 17.5% to 15% didn't cause spontaneous national partying, I don't see why a rise from 17.5% to 20% should elicit a national period of mourning either that said tho, the remarks of some people on here have gone too far the other way for me

What you CAN say: Cameron pledged in April not to raise VAT Someone on 16k a year in london is better placed to say how this will affect them than someone on say 40k a year Or 400k a year. And remember when someone on 400k a year is even threatened with a tax increase they bleat far more than the people on 16k
