  1. Zeban - you are seeing anti-vegitarian sentiment where little exists. By adopting such a rigid stance I suspect more people will wade in on "the vegetarian thing" when all that's been said until now is a few mild jokes when talking about the hypocrisy of meat eaters (not vegetarians) And claiming YOU have values and hinting that others don't is a bit much.. "At least I have some values. Very typical of those that have none to "
  2. The answer is easy for anyone who has lived in any number of clone towns and areas that have become homogenised. You get Waitrose in, rates go up, indies can't afford anything anymore. The rent on the old video shop is already out of the league of most indie operations. Look at the Village - you would think with all that money it would cater for an intersting restaurant scene - nah - Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge, Mitchell & Butlers pub food and hopefully a new decent Italian if you like the indie shops use them - when people say they need a co-op/waitrose/m&s I'm genuinely curious as to why? There are some instances when they come into their own - needing meat after 6pm say but most people's needs most of the time would be served easily by the indie food shops - Val's up by the library or the Turkish shop opposite the Bishop. Scruffy they maybe but they serve some genuinely interesting things along with the staple brands. And they are open all night - plenty convenient
  3. Vegetarianism will inevitably be included in any grown up discussion about fur, for the simple reason that many many meat eaters are against anti-fur and that's a position that is shaky at best - so people are questioning that stance which is entirely valid. Mockney's post about breeding tigers might be flippant but it's not sick - he doesn't WANT to do anything he is merely pointing out that many animals owe their survival to being bred for food or fur. Is that sick? Is extinction better than survival for profit? Maybe it is maybe it isn't but it's a valid thought and not sick

  5. do you get normal reception on non digital channels? ie old skool reception? If you can't see them then the ariel may have been knocked about in a storm or something if they are crystal clear then the reception should be strong enough for digital - but the symptoms you report suggest otheriwse Going to virgin or whoever will mean wall installations which your landlords may need to approve

  9. Indeed narnia. Just quoting from mitchk earlier. To give an example of how some people identify with this wedding/couple business
  10. Being burgled is always horrible. Not question that at all and sympathies go out etc. But using epidemic as a first word is just spreading fear
  11. If a party is organised enough to happen on the proposed scale then yes, enough people care about "the wedding of our (sic) future king" If it's just people who like a party then trust me nothing will happen
  12. Trite as it may be this thread is rooted in east dulwich. Fantasists are reminded of the lounge's location
  13. I have no interest in it but I wouldn?t want to side with the ?just say no to everything? brigade either I don?t know why so many people want to identify with a couple they don?t know and will never know but enough people do to want a party, so have a party If it?s on Lordship Lane I don?t see a problem with that either - anything different is always good for a laugh. You stick England in a world cup final and you won?t have to close Lordship lane, it?ll be deserted anyway, so if it gets closed for a party why not?

  20. Still, even tho they pontificated loudly about sensible wages last season, their new signing on 90k a week played a blinder on Saturday. A blinder for Arsenal admittedly but even so They are odious aren?t they? To see people like Grant and O?Neill have to deal with them is unedifying to say the least
