  1. candj heh heh - did you see my post 4 down from the start of the thread So , you are Alan Davies and I claim my ten pounds
  2. All of matthews points are bang on, but were just as true 7 months ago as now - so who made the mistakes in this. I'm looking at Kenyon and RA Regardless of who over-achieveing and/or lucky Scolari has been so far you can not give someone a job with an ageing squad, freeze most spending, cut your scouting setup and then not even allow him to finish a season where he can be judged on what trophies have been acquired or not You can make a good case for stopping the rot early but all that wil lbe achieved now is a rushed appointment, a slight period of readjustment and then more instability as summer approaches It's all good from an Arsenal perspective - we need that fourth spot so Chelsea messing up suits us. But the sacking sits badly with me
  3. 1. Change a tyre - yes 2. Wire a plug - yes 3. Put up a shelf (has to be straight and level, and support more than the dust it will accumulate!) - yes..ish. Depends on the wall. Partition walls I struggle with 4. Light and use a manual 'old school' BBQ (no gas allowed) - yes. On a good day. It has gone wrong on occassion 5. Replace a faulty fuse and reset the fusebox - yes 6. Finish a curry hotter than a Madras (no fluids allowed) - yes 7. Erect a fence (that will withstand a decent stiff breeze) - yes 8. Hitch up a caravan to a car then reverse it round a corner - extremely doubtful 9. Change a nappy - yes 10. Set up an HD TV with Surround, DVD Player and Stereo out of the box - yes 11. Fillet a fish - never done it. Suspect I could given time. Hmm - that'll be a no then 12. Pitch a 2-man tent - yes 13. Repair a bicycle puncture - yes 14. Build a flatpack wardrobe (minus points for back-to-front doors, wonkiness, and surplus bits) - more times than I care to think about And finally (you'll probably need it)... 15. Drink a yard of ale - not a hope in hell
  4. apart from slipping in East Dulwich into the paragraph, is this ED specific? Or different enough from the several other property threads on here?
  5. I bought a sausage-roll in Greggs in Lewisham last year. Louisa would have been proud of me. It was easily the worst thing I have ever eaten
  6. the FHT looked after us BIG time when we last had drinks there - I think it was the only pub we have been too where they were asking us to stay as they would clock off when we stopped drinking Don't they have club nights at the weekends there now?
  7. I must confess I thought I could here chortling coming from MockneyPiers Towers over the weekend
  8. and when you get that feeling.... ;-)
  9. I'm inclined to agree with karter on this one although I see where MM is coming from. Somerfield generates a lot of footfall and with the banks being next door, that spot is pretty much where I usually want to cross. Agreed the Iceland one is only up the road but the pavement between Somefield and Iceland is narrow, already has a bus stop taking up space and so anyone with bags/pushchairs would benefit
  10. Yes - McAltmont and Butler - excellent choice buggie - that one is a doozy candj - shame on you! keef - The Streets?? Realy - first 2 albums were all kinds of ace but I can't even be in the same room as the third one. It has put me off even trying the latest one
  11. Don't underestimate a good wallow - it's how I get over these things! But if people are going for "getting over it", can I suggest that the first person to sugggest I will survive gets a huuuge QI alarm bell? Oh and sorry to hear about your breakup as well - it's never good at the time.
  12. I remember standing next to Carnell at the bar in The Castle and thinking to myself - "I thought Carnell was a 50 year old dude but something about the fop next to me tells me it's him" - lo and behold...
  13. this! oh dear me it's a lifeless twilight zone for a music gig
  14. You don't honestly think you can be funnier than some real church signs do you?
  15. I miss the smell of breweries - I lived near one in Cork and when I used to go to Sheffield regularly, the Wards brewery on Eccie Rd was a good 'un. It's flats now. Inevitably Sorry - got carried away with nostalgia there
  16. nope - I'm going with cigarettes Interesting allegations about southwark council tho. Knowingly?? Not a lot of news on this one but from the local press
  17. the ciggies can't help either
  18. oopps - I forgot about this thread - sorry i missed your birthday annaj! charliecharlie - some people know birthdays by being facebook acquaintances. Some know because they live with them and when they post on here we all find out
  19. it did for Lucy Mangan.. I used to like her but since getting engaged to ToryBoy she has become impossibly dull
  20. Steve - the threads are about prices in ED - not about renting or selling individual properties
  21. I think this is it: 2006 eh?? who woulda thunk it
  22. just had a quick look and turns out my first post was giving out about chains moving in... I may well be the most broken record ever!
  23. CC click on your name in any thread - then click on "view all posts by" and then you should be able to navigate from there
  24. This is textbook stuff. For an evening that is meant to be just a few drinks down the road, I have had that reaction on several occassion And yes SiriH, they are on the first Friday of every month - so next one is at the Forest Hill tavern I believe - which is in East Dulwich but a bit away from the lane. They did us proud last time we went so come along There are also several other open events which people on here go along to. I'm partial to the curry club which also meets once a month..
  25. The Rye or Magnolia are the ones for me
