  1. I think what God MEANT to say was.... never been that confident meself
  2. I noticed it looked VERY closed last week - it was a nice little space with some sub-par food I thought. I'd like to see an improved take 2
  3. Tiger was covering his bases (fan-wise and sponsor-wise) Powell is more of a realist The lines are blurring for sure (a good thing IMO) but as long as there are red-necks there will be "cautious" people who have less than pink skin. Same would apply if the tables were turned I'm sure.. it just is what it is
  4. forum guidelines snorks, forum guidelines...
  5. I have always just typed [Edited for reason blah] at the end of the message. I don't think you can edit the system edit message (although I stand to be corrected by admin)
  6. not with them being succesful and all. Doubt they would have been considered white in the days of segregation. Or seeking b&B in London a few decades ago
  7. I'm in a similar situation to you Jeremy - in fact I moved in just a week before they chopped down all the tress and I can't say I'm thrilled with the aestehetics. Not helped by this City17-esque weather But it probably does help with track maintenance so I'm not moaning too much
  8. Stepping back from the "which version of events is the most accurate" and let's accept for the sake of argument that there is this almighty being who created us etc etc . There may or not be a day of reckoning yadda yadda but whatever. It's a BIg Thing does it not, even if true, really bother you?? Some omnipotent being is messing with our heads in this way?
  9. to reduce the amount of leaves sludging up the tracks?
  10. who?? Simon Rimmer is the Stig??? wow
  11. back at you strawbs. but can I just add that I didn't rate Surma either?
  12. I thought the text after the link in Ted Max's post was one of his homages - it didn't realise it was real!! Jon Ronson is a hero - his books "The Men who stare at goats" about experiments in the US military and (I think) "The Others" are fab
  13. further making my case that he IS the chef on Something for the weekend - he is also a Liverpool fan
  14. sorry Asset, I thought you got upset about class because of the Peckham reference - my mistake But the OP's question is getting sidetracked unnecessarily by them using upper/middle class as terms to make their point about gotabitofmoneybutfancyspendingabitlessofit I'm in the "couldn't give 2 f***s" on class and not much more bothered about whether people with money deicde to spend less of it or not. I know that food will be one of the last areas I cut back (long after clothes, cds, books etc).
  15. very enjoyable evening at the curry cabin last night but the food is way too coloured and sweet. I had a nibble at various dishes and it seemed common across all of them. Prices were nudging Tandoori Nights as well
  16. very enjoyable evening again, with a good crown and much chat (not chaat) * realises his Alan Partridgism * but the food is way too coloured and sweet. I had a nibble at various dishes and it seemed common across all of them
  17. This time last year I was in Hanoi for their New year party. Now that was a good night but meanwhile back to summer... nothing planned yet. I'll be keen to go back to Edinburgh for a week in the festival I imagine..
  18. indeed - I would give Jaflong marks for trying a few different things but the goto places for me are TN, Omrith (delivery rather than teh dining experience) and Ganapati
  19. I have been to curry cabin many times (and am going again tonight) but the food could never be described as anothing other than standard-issue. And not great standard-issue at that
  20. possibly wrong thread MP? morrisey fan, DPF?? ok - that's enough about music here - back to the debate
  21. Link to pictures from the Phoenix forum drinks
  22. [edited because I didn't need to be that waspish this early in the morning. I might still be waspish in the afternoon tho...]
  23. Its not bringing class in to anything to say butchers in peckham are cheaper than rose or sparkes is it?
  24. Now, you say that CC, but when you are one of the people on the bus, and you have waited for an extra couple of minutes at several bus stops as the driver does the "right thing" and you start to think "hang on, surely the bus driver's job is to get the people on the bus to their destination and keep some sort of adherance to the timetable" However in truth I'm usually more upset by a diver pulling away, leaving me behind than I am taking an extra 15 mins on the Walworth Rd
