Just looks a little > disheveled for want of a better word. I've been mainly on the weekends, and it's always been rammed. It's attracting visitors from all over London... even tourists!
  2. Iceland's gelato is indeed like being teleported to Rome. Why not also get in a chicken tikka lasagne and a chicken fajita pizza to make your significant other feel right at home?
  3. Tarot, nobody's saying you shouldn't speak your mind. It just seems that you are unhappy because nobody agrees with you! You're not the only hetero in the village... just the only homophobe.
  4. Yeah... shame (but predictable) that a protest to highlight legitimate concerns was hijacked by a bunch of idiots. But I doubt many of these lot have even ever been to East Dulwich, let alone care about the changes here. I like Brixton Village, don't understand how anyone could describe it as "dreadful", but at the same time I guess it's not for everyone.
  5. MissKing Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But if we had a Waitrose, would we be able to order John Lewis > 'click and collect' orders to it? Yes it would definitely have John Lewis order collection. It would also have a toilet paper rental service, and a chorus of singing cats.
  6. I'd say that the reputation for dodgy tactics, along with the tacky offices and cars (do they still have those?) are the main reason. But yes, their office is inexplicably large.
  7. How about the "crashed metorite" thing near Kentish Town? http://www.timpaulwilson.com/cantelowes-garden/
  8. Personally I don't use Iceland, but if people really do depend on it then clearly losing it is not ideal. Especially when high street space is taken up with the Foxtons idiot factory.
  9. I'm just getting the national lottery. No matter how many times I click on it, no women in underwear. Although thanks to one of the featured articles, I'm now thinking of joining Gymbox in Holborn.
  10. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How much is a slice of toast with butter? It appears to be some type of "build stuff out of toast" activity, not a cafe. Sounds like a corporate team building day from hell.
  11. I don't think bb is claiming to be a child psychologist per se... just someone who knows a little bit about it.
  12. House of Toast? Jesus christ. At least they didn't call it Haus of Toast.
  13. Not convinced that M&S replacing Iceland and Waitrose replacing Co-op really is the "best of both worlds". I thought we were constantly being told that people rely on Iceland because they can't afford to shop elsewhere, and are unable to get to Peckham?
  14. Stop being negative, otta! I'm a negative Keith, I'm a negative Keith, I'm a negative Keith and I'm stoooooned! etc, etc
  15. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Remember a few years ago they tried a members club > above the EDT. That lasted about a week. I share your scepticism of course, but one important difference is that the people opening this one have actually done it before.
  16. Brewdog are talking about opening a hotel with beer taps in every room...
  17. It's a pretty easy walk from both of the stations, and as I said earlier, not a million miles away from The Hope or Beer Rebellion. But yeah, they certainly won't be relying on passing trade.. it will have to become a destination to succeed.
  18. My gut feeling is that after a few months they'll ditch the whole membership/VIP stuff. They need to pitch it to the local market. If they're open late and do studenty club nights then they might do well. Coupled with pub grub and sunday roasts for a bit of daytime trade.
  19. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would like to see Iceland stay but happy to see > M&S/Waitrose replace the Co-op. That would probably be the ideal outcome... the Co-op is poorly stocked, inferior quality food (IMO), and isn't cheap - hard to see any advantages. But unfortunately it is hard for local residents to influence such things.
  20. yeknom... don't think that analogy holds water I'm afraid!
  21. Ach... maybe I'm too cynical. I wish them luck, and I admire the bold entrepreneurship.
  22. OK titch... see you on the mauve velvet sofa, behind the VIP rope. I'll have a bottle of Grey Goose ready.
  23. aquarius moon Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's just what that part of Peckham needs. I dunno. I think what that part of Peckham really needs is something inclusive and grounded... not some daft "buy a bottle of spirits for ?100 and sit in the pretentious members area all night" set-up. But what do I know... these guys are businessmen and presumably know their shit...
  24. BTW Louisa... I knew you wouldn't stay away forever, but two weeks? Where's your willpower?
  25. The great thing about this thread is that Foxy and Louisa are now in the new clique (i.e. the heterophobes).
