  2. Ads for cosmetic surgery/botox/baldness treatment/etc are probably worse...
  3. Not seen it yet (didn't want to pay the money OR get up that early) but as KK said... Mayweather fights often end up this way... very clever fighter but the fights are rarely much of a spectacle.
  4. Otta - it's available on virgn as well as sky. ?20.
  5. Probably won't start until 5am or so. I wouldn't mind watching it with a coffee and a croissant if any cafes want to open a couple of hours early..

Well, my last holiday was Japan. Where nobody speaks English. It was good. Not much chat.

  9. It all depends doesn't it... on a nice long, wide road, driving at 30mph in 4th gear should be pretty efficient. While on short roads, accelerating up to 30 only to stop again 5 seconds later is pointless and probably wastes fuel (I imagine).

Anyway, when you're possibly the most admired person in your home country, one of the world's most succesful sportsmen, and rich beyond your wildest dreams.. probably fair to say he's quite happy with his lot in life.

Vin Diesel and The Rock sharing the screen. With lots of cars. Of course they're classics, Otta. What are you talking about.
  13. Gonna step out of this one... I think we've agreed that the original statement of "no such thing as an accident" is incorrect.
  14. So every possible eventuality is the direct result of human action or inaction. Righto.

That would have been a much more reasonable statement, but still a bit harsh I think. Black ice, punctures, mechanical failure, hidden potholes... things happen.
  16. I actually find Milliband quite frank and realistic regarding immigration. Maybe just because he's learned from his predecessors mistakes... but the current Labour policies make the most sense to me. The message seems to broadly supportive of immigration, but to stop people abusing the system.
  17. I'm not sure if I agree, DR. I don't really see the Lib Dems as linear descendents of the original Liberal party. They have more of a Social Liberal ideology.

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I have never liked Clegg one bit, but last night I > did feel myself thinking that maybe just maybe > he's not the self serving prick I've had him down as... Just interested... why do/did you think he's self serving? Putting to one side the obvious point that we're all self serving to a certain extent.. what makes him more so than other politicians? Do you think he sold out his party by entering the coalition? What were the alternatives?
  19. Some friends of mine used to take their baby boy out in a carriage behind their tandem bike (I think they might still do it with their youngest). They're good people and of course I respect their right to do whatever they think best, but whenever I saw them on this contraption I was absolutely terrified. It's all very well to say "the bikes aren't the problem, it's the cars/trucks/buses".. and you'd be right... but at the same time, when it comes to personal safety you just have to realise that the roads are FULL of bad, selfish, aggressive drivers.
  20. wulfhound Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James is right. No such thing as an accident. No he's not! Surely an accident is an unintentional incident. If you want to narrow down the definition to exclude incidents resulting from carelessness or error, then you'll need a different word.
  21. A few posters - past and present - have been openly Tory. Given that they got the most votes in the last election, it really shouldn't be considered even vaguely controversial... If the Tories had done a better job in their main aim of managing the defecit/debt, I might have even considered voting for them this time. But they seem to have screwed it up a bit... and are now talking about deeper austerity measures coupled with lowering taxes... don't see how anyone can buy that.
  22. Think James needs to look up the definition of "accident" Just because you can apportion blame, doesn't make it a deliberate act.

  24. Perhaps they're planning to initially offer them as offices, with a view to applying for change of use to residential a few years down the line? Pretty sneaky..
