  1. Fox, I think you have a point, and the Brookside lesbian thing was definitely rather sensationalist... possibly designed specifically to shock. But times have moved on a bit.
  2. Not sure of you're offended by the suggestion that homosexuality is normal, or that you feel it's overrepresented. But certainly the fact that you feel such storylines are inappropriate for children makes you look rather prejudiced. But basically these are daft shows made for stupid, boring people, so probably best not to watch in the first place.
  3. Chicken cruelty - Ozzy Osbourne

  5. Very impressive array of cakes in the cafe, I must say...
  6. I would think Euston's slightly easier to get to from ED than Marylebone, so I'd go for that. Although check which station has more frequent brum-bound departures in case of delays/cancellations. Doesn't really matter which of the three Birmingham stations you end up at, they're all close by.
  7. I reckon grass spider is correct...
  8. I think the point is, if the rebooted version had a nice cafe attached selling home made cakes, flat whites (whatever they are), aperol spritz and local craft beers... everyone would realise how much they loved swimming outdoors in the UK.
  9. Erm.. is that aimed at me?
  10. Article also says that the word "redistribute" had previously taboo within New Labour... which I think neatly backs up my point.
  11. miga Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But not a kneejerk reaction the Tories would have > had under the same circumstances. I'm sure you're right.. but that's beside the point. You said that Labour promised fairer wealth distribution and didn't deliver. I was simply saying that I'm not sure it was really one of Blair's core aims. Blah Blah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It was 60p under Thatcher Jeremy. 50p doesn't seem so bad really. Again I'm sure you're right, but by no stretch of the imagination was I trying to suggest that Brown was worse than Thatcher!!
  12. miga Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Gordon Brown, 50p top rate of tax Surely a knee jerk reaction to the financial crisis rather than an integral "New Labour" policy...
  13. Saying that, they kinda screwed up the "equality of opportunity" bit too...
  14. Well... New Labour were supposed to give us a combination of free market economics, and strong welfare state with equality of opportunity. Not sure that redistributive taxation was ever really a focus for them (and is rarely a vote winning policy).
  15. Yeah cycling in Japan is a different kettle of fish altogether. Cyclists ride on the pavement and there is loads of bike parking. (not so much fun for pedestrians though, to be fair).
  16. maxxi - I like the idea of the angle grinder, but I think the noise may prevent residents from getting a good nights sleep, so perhaps you could think of another way of nicking the bikes?

Yeah it's good... usually seems to be in oyster sauce whenever I have it in HK. Maybe stir fry with some ginger, garlic and chilli first, then chuck in oyster sauce and a bit of water and simmer for a couple of minutes.
  18. If you have MS Word, you can just save in PDF format.
  19. Sounds like she was OK with the situation Loz. I'm sure you could have learned some valuable lessons.
  20. I don't know what's worse... the usual militant cyclist nonsense, or bizarre claims that a cycle rack is going to cause loss of sleep...

  22. I know. Depleting the council housing stock and selling public assets for less than they're worth... yeah that's exactly what we need right now, isn't it? Also talking about tax cuts (both inheritance tax and higher rate income tax) just doesn't seem right at a time when services are being slashed and the NHS is in crisis (and no I don't have any faith in his ?8bn pledge). Have heard Miliband being called "unelectable" over the last few months, but IMO he sounds much more fiscally responsible... what the tories are proposing just doesn't add up.
  23. 17 yrs old, at the school 6th form party/disco thing. Got well and truly hammered. The hottest girl in the year had just got her drivers license (and was presumably sober-ish) and offered me a lift home. I threw up in her car.

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > According to Wiki, "In March 2015 the World Health > Organization's International Agency for Research > on Cancer published a summary of its forthcoming > monograph on glyphosate, and classified it as > "probably carcinogenic in humans" Read onto the next sentence, and you'll see that there is some dispute around this. I'm not saying that glyphosate is wonderful stuff and we should all start bathing in it... but at the same time I think there's a bit of scaremongering going on, and evidence (on both sides) seems rather inconclusive.
  25. I don't think Fox has done anything wrong on this thread other than to state his opinions... and while they probably don't correlate with most of the EDF, I dare say that he's not the only one on his street who's not pleased about possibly losing a parking space.
