  1. Not sure about this. On one hand, it's not too far away from a few other new openings, e.g. The Hope or Beer Rebellion. But on the other hand... there seems to be a real dichotomy between the location and what the new owners seem to be proposing.
  2. I'm not into bikes at all, but I have to say Foxy, that is rather nice. My fantasy luxury would be an underground (or elevated) go-kart lane between Peckham and Moorgate. The karts could even be electric to keep the eco-types happy. Payment via oyster card.
  3. ?1.50 a ticket is surely too much. In fact online bookings often work in the cinema's favour. No need for ticket kiosks and foyers big enough to accomodate the queues. They can use the space for bar/cafe/confectionary instead. But of course Mick Mac is right... it's wrong to single out the Picturehouse (or even the cinema industry). It's a standard rip-off tactic.
  4. I'm sure it's very nice steveo, but I wouldn't like having to save up for a tank of petrol.

    Rate per hour

?200 for a builder or carpenter, sure. Not a labourer.
  6. Cinemas charging booking fees = complete piss-take. Especially when online booking is obviously expected to be the norm.
  7. There are many different facets of "nationalism"... they may all share a belief in sovereignty and a strong national identity, and while excessive flag-waving patriotism has never sat comfortably with me, nationalism in itself is not necessarily such a terrible thing. It doesn't necessarily involve racism, xenophobia or any notion of superiority. Ganhi and Mandela could be described as nationalists.
  8. My dad used to have a W124 generation E class (saloon version).. he had it for around 20 years, I think. Amazingly reliable and sturdy... not a looker though.
  9. miga Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A mint codition Mercedes W124 estate. Really? Never thought of that generation as a classic at all. Previous generation was much more iconic and classy IMO.
  10. How about Dulwichus Foxicus?
  11. DulwichFox getting touchy about being called "Fox"! Lighten up! It's not exactly the worst thing anyone's ever been called. I've been called worse names this morning. Several times.
  12. Seabag.. would an IV drip and a catheter suffice?

  14. In my (recent) experience the best bet is the queue at around 7:40, then you should at least get a triage call that day. In some ways it is a backwards step from the previous system, where if you got there early enough you would get an appointment.

    Park life

Peckham Rye. It's a nice mix of secluded paths, wooded areas, formal gardens, and of course the common. The network of paths feels almost maze-like, and I like the fact that the remnants of the River Peck run through it.
  16. Bury it in the garden? I think paper decomposes quite quickly. (maybe not glossy paper.. not sure)
  17. Well I for one am sick of it.
  18. ladyboy saturation. When will it stop?
  19. The original Planet of the Apes is surely one of the all time classic twist endings..
  20. Well in that case if the kids want Mr Bubble, then the ice cream man has nothing to worry about!
  21. Dead Mans Shoes. Well.. I didn't see the twist coming anyway.
  22. Let the customers choose. If you're in the food/catering industry and haven't updated your offering since 1980, then losing a bit of business shouldn't come as a complete shock.
  23. MrBen - no. There's a nice-ish old bit around the cathedral. Other than that, it's not great. Despite lots of regeneration (i.e. new-but-bland shopping centre, offices, apartments), feels a little bit down-at-heel and depressing.

I was aware of the media storm-in-a-teacup at the time, I didn't watch it though! I did go through a phase of watching Eastenders as a teenager, but I stopped watching it when it eventually dawned on me how incredibly shite it was, and I became embarassed to even watch an episode.
  25. It's a soft opening weekend... if they have to select a small group of people to invite, then choosing people who have signed up as members of the ED branch seems a perfectly reasonable way to do it.
