  1. The problem with the trees argument is that as far as I can tell, the owner could just chop them all down tomorrow. Then there's no more argument.
  2. There's a new school being built on Troy Town, is that the location of the new Bellenden School?
  3. Inside is a bit school canteenish, but sitting outside is pleasant enough. Cake at ?3 a slice seems steep, but the slices are huge and are really enough for two (although of course I did not share my piece).

Very short queue at the cafe, lots of free tables. Museum itself wasn't too bad either - didn't go to the Natural History section though, I think I've seen the manky stuffed animals enough times to last me a lifetime. Didn't need the baby changing (she seemed to decide a while ago that she only likes to poo at home).

Huh. I've always assumed such feelings go unspoken.. but I know exactly what you mean.
  6. If you've never eaten Nandos (or oven chips), how do you know you don't like it? (personally... not crazy about oven chips, but Nandos is perfectly reasonable food in my book)
  7. Generally any craze which makes people want to pick up an instrument is a good thing in my book. But was never really on board with the ironic tweeness of the whole ukelele thing.
  8. We were at the Horniman yesterday afternoon (with a baby-slash-toddler). Not too busy at all.
  9. I can understand aversion to jellied eel, but eel in general... in taste it's not so different from other oily fish, eg mackerel.
  10. Not convinced that trees are valid grounds to challenge an application - people can do whatever they want with trees on private property unless protected by a tree preservation order.
  11. Yeah JDG was probably awarded 10-7 for that round. That's what won it for him...
  12. I said to Otta on Friday night that I thought DeGale would get easily outpointed. But credit where credit's due. JDG is the real deal..
  13. Knocking on your door after 10pm asking for money? Let him try that with me...

  15. Only at a (badly needed) rehearsal...
  16. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > hilarious sight of white middle class women with > no discernable rhythm, drumming along slightly > behind the beat. Well you're in luck - tonight you can see a white middle class man with no discernable rhythm on the drums!
  17. Otta... it basically comes down to the fact that you don't see what's more attractive about ED than Sydenham/Brockley/Penge/etc. But then you're a down-to-earth guy who doesn't care much about restaurants, would rather drink in a proper pub that a "bar", has no interest in organic vegetables or artisan bread, etc. But plenty of people feel differently, there's no right and wrong.
  18. Froch boxing smart behind a long jab? Doesn't really sound like his style...

The high street (i.e. Lordship Lane) is a lot smarter than Peckham, Forest Hill, Camberwell, Sydenham, etc. It has plenty of bars/restaurants and "boutiquey" shops. People like that stuff. You might not be bothered, but plenty of other people are. Just cos you disagree with them.. doesn't make them mugs.

  21. Yep, this thread is a load of bollocks. A campaign to ban something, based on personal bugbears and semi-fictional anecdotes about other countries.
  22. Greengod Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But then in France they take eating much more seriously and people commonly > believe doing it while on the move to be detrimental to health. Surely such an absurd belief nullifies any argument based on what the French do.
  23. Greengod.. great idea, let's start importing rules from Singapore! Surprised it isn't punishable by firing squad in that f*cked up country.
