  1. Wetherspoons would be OK. If its a Walkabout I'll personally torch the place.
  2. Maxxi... while many dads probably wouldn't complain about going straight from the office to the pub every night, we happen to be living in 2015.

At the end of the day, a 4 storey building is being knocked down and replaced with another 4 storey building, so we're not exactly opening the floodgates here.
  4. But the existing police station is already four storeys! Besides, this is zone 2 London, not some picturesque village. And we need schools. Sorry FM I could not agree with you less.
  5. Mike - yes quite possibly the guy needs help, but at the same time nobody likes feeling threatened... the concerns are legitimate. People need to make a stand and not give into his bullying. Show him his tactics do not work.
  6. Surely any objections need to be based on the changes to the building, not the nature of the business moving in (see also the M&S saga)
  7. Dunno Otta. Is The Castle tied to a brewery?
  8. It is a good question Fox... think pubs often need to sell food to make ends meet, because of scandalous brewery ties.
  9. How about requesting that site related deliveries and removals are done during school hours? Then safety of children is no longer an issue.

TBH doesn't sound a million miles from a lot of pubs these days.
  11. Louisa - would agree that "pubs that concentrate on food" is a reasonable definition of "gastropub", but last time I went in the FHT/Rose the only food on offer was pie and mash (about a year ago). And there were about four other people in there.
  12. I'm more of an eastern bloc enthusiast TBH.

  14. Depends on the surgey... but any hospital should be able to handle routine prodcedures with ease. Most will just want to go to their local hospital.

Might be a fringe benefit to those of us in big cities. Elsewhere, geography is the main consideration when you need medical treatment.

  17. It's not as personal as you seem to think, Louisa. It's purely business... young people have all the disposable income. I'll keep an open mind and look forward to trying it. Personally I'm at a point in life where somewhere to go for a spot of decent lunch with the family is more useful than a boozer anyway.
  18. What Otta said. They're lowlifes, but sellers figure it works in their favour. The result of the equation - people are lowlifes.
  19. I would have thought that eBay is the place for second hand bargains... failing that the second hand stuff on Amazon.
  20. Games for older consoles like the PS3 should only be around a fiver each second hand.. buyer's market.
  21. JohnL - sounds like you are an incredibly slow shopper. I don't enjoy the experience, so make a list and get in and out asap. 3hrs is a very generous limit, why not just stick to it? Or is this whole thing just about "sticking it to the man"..
  22. Looks like it's actually the landlord who is taking legal action, having been overcharged for a job. Foxtons have a habit of adding on a commission for maintenance work, without disclosing this to the landlord!
  23. I like the idea of installing double doors (assume that's what "parliament doors" are?) to give you the option of opening it up a bit.

Oh no... nothing inherently efficient about the NHS, as far as I can tell. Just theoretically, I don't see why a public organisation can't be just as efficient as a private one. e.g. if NHS supply chains are fragmented, why can't they be consolidated... use the vast size of the organisation in it's favour.
  25. MarkT... I don't understand the connection with 100 LL..
