  1. Does he actually tour or play much? Or has he just put together a bunch of session musicians for the festivals?
  2. Watched a couple of things including a couple of Mark Ronson songs... to be honest the mix was so bad, it's hard to draw any meaningful conclusions. But the songs don't seem to have translated well to live performance.

I think some people confuse "moving with the times" with "gentrification". One or two places serving reasonable grub, craft beer, proper coffee, freshly baked bread, etc.. is just keeping up with demand and modern tastes/expectations. It doesn't translate to inevitable wholesale poncification.

  8. Nobody likes rats (and the rubbish which they're after), but I doubt your daughter is in much danger.

Yeah... the Crystal Palace bunch seem pretty smug about their neighbourhood and its recent upturn.. kind of like ED a few years ago, when it was awash with buyers from other parts of London who thought they'd found a hidden gem.

Of course... it's inevitably true. Most of us are more "direct" on here than we would be face-to-face.
  11. Overdevelopment? On a road that contains several mansions? Yeah right...

Some domestic cats are pretty much as big as foxes, and have superior speed/agility, and those razor sharp claws. So your story doesn't surprise me. But foxes have large mouths with strong jaws ... if it manages to grab the cat then it's all over.
  13. Mariana Trench is nice. Had it on keg at the Ivy House a while ago. My one and only drink tonight was a bottle of Budvar Dark, which I only came across recently. Not bad.

  15. How about if you're a Filipino stick fighting expert? Half a cue in each hand might be handy.

  17. RD/DC - was assuming the ball-in-sock wouldn't work in a bar fight. Was actually wondering if the advice was to simply pick the ball up in your hand and smack someone with it. I've heard that salt cellars can be used too (although such items are a bit too poncy for proper boozers, I know).

    Right on.

  22. I've no problem with old-school pubs. I quite liked the old Palmerston. The Half Moon and Ganley's in Herne Hill were regular haunts in the late 90s/early 2000s. All fine. But quiet pubs with a little posse of regulars standing at the bar doesn't make for a friendly experience IMO.
  23. It didn't really bother me - and that's not why I've not been back. Wasn't intimidated, just all seemed rather... odd.
  24. You got out of the wrong side of the bed didn't you Mike! Some time around Spring.
