  1. Not sure what was worse... precocious 11 year old Charlotte belting out Pie Jesu, or 30 year old party girl Charlotte pretending to know about economics.
  2. It's not one for a session... but if you're only having one or two pints it's great.
  3. I go to Peckhamplex now and again. It's fine. So it's basic, the carpets are sticky, the seats are worn, and the projection and audio quality are not great - but you can still enjoy the film and you can't argue with the price. aquarius moon Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just to add, ridiculing, taking the p*ss, talking bollox just > to get a laugh isn't cool and isn't clever. I disagree. Louisa's argument is ridiculous, so ridicule is a completely appropriate response. I have tried reason, and predictably got nowhere.

  5. It's burgers all over again. Except this time you've never tried the ?7 burger OR the ?3 one. Yet you feel strongly that they should be the same price. Plus the added distraction of a ?4.50 burger available in East Grinstead.
  6. You've never actually been to Peckhamplex, have you?

If Ryanair can change ?40 return to fly to Spain, why can't BA do the same?

I did martial arts for a while, but stopped around 7 years ago. But the instructor was very keen on making sure the women practised a lot of kicks, "in case you're carrying shopping in both hands" (and it wasn't even a joke). But anyway, one of the things I took away from it was that it's hard to really prepare for a real life attack unless you train so regularly that muscle memory starts to kick in. And also that the strikes which could potentially get you out of trouble quickly against a stronger opponent (eyes/throat/balls, maybe stamp to knee) are almost impossible to practise in a controlled environment. There are better ways to keep safe than learning to fight.
  10. Strange location for a bar/club with expensive cocktails, bouncers on the door, and all the rest...

It was just an example of one scenario which MIGHT have occurred. Not shifting blame at all. My point was simply that we don't know the full facts and jumping to conclusions is not helpful.

  13. Again, it's pure conjecture. There could be any number of reasons why the call was prioritised incorrectly.

I have a few friends who are GPs (for some reason had a lot of medic friends at uni), they seem to work 8-9hr days. Which on the face of it just sounds like a normal day's work, but then you realise that they can't take coffee breaks, or waste time posting junk on internet forums!
  15. Could well be a software bug, Fox. Hopefully this will all be reviewed properly and promptly.
  16. I don't think a super middleweight fighting a middleweight stinks. The problem is that we have too many divisions, so sometimes a bit of hopping around is inevitable. (agree that no belts should be contested at catch-weights though, i.e. Cotto)
  17. To be fair, comparing a Chromebook to a Macbook Air is like comparing a Proton with a Porsche.
  18. Big difference with Nunhead Cemetery. Nobody has been buried at Nunhead in a long long time, it is primarily of historical and natural interest. Camberwell New Cemetery (and maybe the Old Cemetery too?) still have burials.
  19. I don't think anybody is trying to "blame" the caller! Of course not. But I wouldn't want to assume that the ambulance dispatcher, in full posession of the facts, decided this wasn't a high priority call.
  20. You could even install Ubuntu... or even OSX if you're a masochist! But they are typically quite low spec and probably best suited to Chrome OS.
  21. I think walking/jogging/dogs are all fine, and in no way disrespectful. But yeah... not so sure about picnics and childrens activities.
  22. To be fair in 2007/2008 Froch wasn't a big name, Calzaghe had no reason to fight him (and I don't think Froch would have been ready then, either)
  23. Nothing to gain? For me he is lacking a career defining fight (despite the likes of Bute and Kessler II on his CV). A win against GGG would be just that.
  24. I dunno, the coffee cup on the ashes was pretty thoughtless. Everyone knows that ghost cats prefer a nice saucer of milk.
  25. Apparently GGG and his guys are totally up for the Froch fight. But Froch (having previously said that this is one of the few fights which he'd be interested in) is now undecided, so Golovkin is looking at other opponents instead (Lara?). Doubt Froch will fight again.
