Then why do you go on about it all the time! To have a bit of a laugh and wind a few people up? Exactly..

  4. There are genuine concerns about gentrification, but reminiscing about "a bit of a punch up", and absurd claims that pizza is "posh" are just making a mockery of them.
  5. Forresters was better than the Bishop cos you could use the pool cues to bash your mates over the head. Them was the days.
  6. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Elephants I'd have an issue with. If we're going to decide which animals are most suitable for farming for meat, we need to ignore these arbitrary cultural distinctions. We need to look at low intelligence vs meat yield - brain to body ratio would seem like a good place to start. Birds, monkeys, cats and dogs are off the menu. Hippos need to start watching their backs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain-to-body_mass_ratio

People don't consume more meat because more varieties are available. Cats and dogs? Why is the life of a dog worth more than the life of a lamb? It's just cultural norms..

  10. M&S state on their animal welfare policy that they do not stock exotic meats, but it's still unclear to me how it is ethically different from established meats.
  11. Just saw that Iceland do an "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" selection pack of exotic meat burgers. Aside from the fact that they are specifically aiming these products at a demographic hooked on junk television and ignorant about food.. surely very lean meats such as ostrich, crocodile, etc are totally unsuitable for burgers? Anyway... I appreciate that the food is cheap and therefore people are going to miss it, but from a purely selfish perspective, I think it's pretty grim and never use it. If I want cheap food I'll head to Lidl on Bellenden Rd.
  12. I know you're veggie AM and opposed to all meat, but how is crocodile/kangaroo meat worse then beef or pork?
  13. I'll bring the stanley knife and we can take it in turns to slash each other. It will be just like old times.
  14. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Friends of the Earth did a study some years ago > and stated that this country should have a > population of just 30 million. Really? Any link to this? Sounds like a load of old rhubarb to me.
  15. What James says makes sense to me, the controls are there to give police and wardens power in case people are behaving antisocially. Doesn't mean we should start casting judgement or accuse people of setting a bad example, FFS!

Starting to feel like a rather bad parent. Sounds like an excellent idea to me.
  17. Wholesale demolition of social housing to be replaced with private housing sure sounds like social cleansing to me. I don't think the term really applies to ED/surrounding areas though.
  18. TBH I probably wouldn't do it myself, but if other parents do... their kids, their choice.
  19. So I take it you're against a sneaky beer while bob jr is on the swings?
  20. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > it makes you a bit sick seeing > sensationalist stories about some layabout > benefits scrounger who is not even remotely typical. Was thinking the same thing... bloody tabloid scapegoating nonsense. An extreme case which isn't even vaguely representative of anyone I've ever met. ratty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I am conscious my opinions are based on what I do > for a living, but I guess so are a bankers. People have to realise that the majority of Tory voters are not bankers - or even particularly wealthy (left wing scapegoating nonsense!) Plenty of working class and lower-middle class Tories out there.

  22. I also agree with Sue. If a parent looking after a child was actually drunk, that would be different.
  23. Don't really agree with the authorised dealer recommendation, as you will pay way over the odds. All depends how much their warranty is worth to you, I guess. You can buy third party warranties and pre-purchase inspections..
  24. TBH it didn't really look much different before the fire.
  25. Fox, you are sounding pretty judgemental there. We're not (as far as I know) talking about Dads getting wasted while their children play.
