  1. JimH, I think it's common knowledge, apparently he was quite open about it on Twitter...
  2. > they've replaced total coverage of terminating > platforms with partial coverage. Not sure what you mean by "total coverage", but the platforms were definitely uncovered when you got further away from the station. And they were constantly flooded whenever there was a bit of rain. I'm hoping the narrow platforms are a temporary measure, because a whole trainload of people slowly shuffling through that narrow space is clearly ridiculous - and unsafe. Also reducing from 16 to 15 platforms... I'm unsure how this is progress? The building itself... I think it's fine. It's not beautiful, but it feels light and spacious compared to the old station.
  3. I think it stands to reason that trains earlier in the morning are less likely to be impacted by knock-on problems...
  4. I would be surprised if the freehold itself was worth a lot over 10K. So charging any more than that just to add the loft onto one of the lease agreements sounds a bit cheeky.
  5. And that's what everyone in there was drinking? No. So there you go.
  6. Maybe (just guessing) the Flying Pig might have bottles of boutique American 10% Imperial IPA for ?8. That does not mean that beer in East Dulwich costs ?8.
  7. Not suggesting anyone starts "taking it out on" the staff. Certainly not. If the station staff points the customer in the right direction should they wish to complain... well surely that's fine, and actually would go to show that approaching them did acheive something...
  8. CCTV sounds like a good idea... recently had my car wing mirror glass taken when it was parked in front of the house. (cost of the replacement part... unbelievably... ?300)
  9. I disagree Otta/SJ, if you work for a company in a public facing role, you're representing the company. Yeah your complaint won't be formally processed, but you would expect such a staff member to be able to feed back general customer sentiment back to management. But of course, there's no call for any rudeness/aggression.
  10. Is LBG now the largest station in London not to have a pub inside it?

    Hello

Sydney by the looks of things! An intentional joke?
  12. BNG - fair enough. Actually my trains in the morning tend to be OK (I go in a fair bit earlier than you), but the unreliable trains home really, really infuriate me. Not least because of the lack of accurate information. There's not even a bar in the station any more for a swift half! SJ - totally agree, anyone giving station employees abuse is a complete dick. There's a not-so-fine-line between complaining and aggressive behaviour.
  13. mcnipper - sorry not sure how to go about buying the loft from the council! But if your flat doesn't have a garden, think carefully about whether you'd get your money back when you come to sell again.
  14. Two platforms have opened and two others have closed. Why would you expect the problems to have got better all of a sudden?
  15. I also agree... some people on this forum are certainly weird...
  16. It seems pretty standard for the solicitors not to do anything at all for at least two weeks after receiving your instruction.
  17. It's a well-trodden path. The routine goes: Plan to buy a cottage in cash and get a job as a postman Then buy a big place and commute 3hrs a day so you can pay off your new mortgage
  18. The main advantage for me would be that the agents conduct the viewings. That might seem easy at the moment (show a load of people round on a Saturday and wait for the offers to flood in) but that's not how these things traditionally work... in "normal" market conditions it can take weeks or months to sell a property, and giving up your evenings and weekends to show people around would be a serious pain in the ass.
  19. If you're referring to the song, I think the lyrics reference some kind of contemporary dance manoeuvre.

Yeah I've definitely noticed a few places sitting on the market... i.e. 3 bed houses in Peckham which need a total refurb for 750K. Or pimped-up terraced houses in ED for >1M. It's just not realistic, and in some cases just plain greedy. Hopefully we've reached a point where buyers are thinking "enough is enough". But I fear selling privately won't take off until private sellers can add their properties to Rightmove/etc, and even if that happens, sellers will probably still get greedy with asking prices.
  21. It's a wind-up EmED...

    Gove Rap

I guess not reggie.. To be fair, anyone who claims to be a hip hop fan, but the only lyrics they can recite are from the Wham Rap... they're pretty much inviting a merciless pisstaking.
  23. Might help if they had a name. And a shop sign. With their name on it.

  25. Lots and lots of French working in the City. I guess everywhere north of the river has finally got too expensive!
