  1. I'd certainly be in favour of putting penalties on overseas property investment. It would obviously have a detrimental on the construction sector... and I can't imagine a Tory government prioritising housing affordability over the economy,
  2. I only play games on my PS3 rarely... but when I do, it always seems to force me to download an update for the game first. And then when I do that, the game refuses to start up until I update the OS. Half an hour later, I've lost interest. I preferred the Megadrive.
  3. Not really sure what they mean by "studio quality"... if they're talking about 24bit/192khz then that's just an unnecessary gimmick for anything but high end pro audio... and certainly indistinguishable from CD quality when played on a ?250 "PonoPlayer". Also don't get the need for a combined store/hardware offering when FLAC is a standard format. As for the observation that "children raised in the digital age are losing out because they have not been ?nourished? by the experience of three-dimensional, immersive sound"... complete nonsense and quite nauseating. Most kids I knew had cheap cassette walkmans, boom-boxes, or if they were lucky some sort of "midi system". Any one of which would have far worse sound quality than an iPod. Only a lucky few were lucky enough to have their Dad's hand-me-down 1970s hi-fi separates littering their bedrooms. How much of his own money has he put into this? Or would he rather take a gamble on this turkey with other peoples money instead?

  5. Mortgage Market Review (MMR) changes are coming in next month. Mortgage applications will have to be stress-tested for things like rising interest rates and potential future childcare costs. Of course all lenders should already be doing these things though...
  6. Who cares about the bloody barriers? What kind of idiot walks out the cinema and straight into the road? As far as I know blind people don't tend to be frequent cinema customers.
  7. Yeah, I think you'll almost certainly get a better price through an agent, even after they've taken their 1% or so. Even if you hate the increasingly greedy asking prices, the sealed bids, the gazumping... if you can't beat them, join them.
  8. I can only agree that there is nothing to admire in someone for "speaking their mind", when they do so without consideration of other people's feelings, or simply to boost their own profile. But I'd question whether Katie Hopkins is actually speaking her mind - I suspect her recent public persona is a caricature of herself, bile amplified to eleven in order to increase her fame and wealth.

  10. Good point I guess. The residents could always arrange their own sinking fund? But I guess the same problem applies if someone doesn't agree to do that.
  11. It's the thought that counts.
  12. Not sure about your photographic skils t-e-d, but it was indeed lovely over the weekend.
  13. Speaking as someone who recently moved into a CPZ... I don't understand why the residents of ED were so against having one! I park right outside my house, every time.
  14. At least if you're paying/arranging maintainance yourself, you know the landlord hasn't awarded dodgy contracts to his mates at an inflated price.
  15. Did you make her fish it out, or did you stick your own hand in?
  16. Could unlurked be exhibiting a self deprecating sense of humour?
  17. I was almost caught out with that recently... filled in my entire bloody return, only to be prompted with a message asking me for ?x00 to file my return. Luckily I'm not quite that much of a mug!
  18. Ground rent sounds fairly normal. It is also quite normal to pay maintenance yourselves - unless you are paying a service charge to cover such things. As Mutrik says, confirm that this arrangement is INSTEAD of a service charge, not in addition to it.
  19. I received the same email as Sue.. can't see myself leaving work early to attend, when when the problems are so flippin obvious to most of us.
  20. You could install "Wifi File Transfer" which allows you to transfer files to/from your PC (as well as delete files) over your wifi.
  21. Ah well, that's alright then, isn't it.
  22. I think that's a good summary, PokerTime. There are certain jobs for which a mac has become industry standard - in some cases the leading software is mac only, so there's no decision to be made. But I really think the average home user is simply paying a few hundred quid to have that nice big apple logo on display.
  23. I have both - I find the reliability/stability about the same. I also find the PC slightly more user friendly. As for the 'mac is better for graphics/video' reputation, it's of course subjective and down to what software you prefer. If there's a specific piece of mac-only software that you have your heart set on then fine, but I doubt that's the case.
  24. To me West Dulwich and the Village have more in common with Herne Hill, while East Dulwich feels more aligned to Peckham and Camberwell. They feel like very different areas to me.
  25. Someone needs to close RD's italics tag. has that worked?
