  1. Quids... you're not seriously suggesting that somebody with little financial knowledge invests in this?
  2. Given that 'supernatural' specifically means an event outside of the rules of nature, saying outright that such things don't exist does not seem like an unreasonable stance. Not just because we haven't experienced such things, but because they go against what we know about the world and the universe. If you hear funny noises, or things go missing, or writing appears on a steamed up window, or there are cold spots in a room... there are of course rational explanations to all of these, so to automatically bypass them and say that it is supernatural, that just seems odd to me.
  3. We have cold spots by the windows and also the front door. Could this also be a spirit?
  4. There are actually a few real snow slops in the UK. I've been to Milton Keynes and the one near Leeds. They're OK... the length and gradient is similar to a beginner slope in a resort, so if you've not done much skiing then it could be ideal. But more experienced skiers would get bored very quickly. I believe there's also a centre in Hemel Hempstead, which is a bit closer than MK.
  5. The wife made me go and watch Toy Story 3... yeah it was surprisingly moving for a children's animation (and one starring Tom Hanks at that), but actually crying?? Pull yourself together!!

  7. Mike, isn't batdog still here under a different name? I was sure he was...
  8. Along with polygamy, and teenage brides who are too naive/uneducated to protect themselves.
  9. Bromley to Sevenoaks is the Arriva 402. Although I imagine this will be a last resort! Good luck.
  10. You can get 3 buses... ED/Penge/Bromley/Sevenoaks. Probably take quite a while though...
  11. JW, where exactly do you need to get to? Can you take a national express route? A combination of buses? Hire a car?
  12. Yeah... turns out they're bloody everywhere!
  13. People trying to sell old rubbish for unrealistic prices is nothing new. But on the other hand, I am wary of giving things away free (unless I seriously need to get rid) because there are lots of people around who will take it off your hands and then re-sell it.

I had to google that one...

I noticed that too. Suggestion of alternative routes might have been rather more helpful, instead of just "we put notices up so don't complain".
  16. Thanks will check Morrison's. Electronic voucher is a last resort, but thanks anyway.
  17. Anyone know anywhere I can buy these without going into town? Sainsburys didn't have any yesterday. Obv too late to buy online. Thanks.

If you think it has little merit then the timing is irrelevant. I disagree with you there I'm afraid, we all make time for things if we think they are worthwhile.
  19. Yes in theory many of us could probably leave work early and put other plans aside to get there for 6pm. The question is whether you believe it will be sufficiently constructive to justify the hassle.
  20. What exactly did he say he'd do for the ?500? Is there anything special about your floors? Marvin did a loft conversion for us a few years ago. We arranged ourselves for the carpet to be taken up beforehand, and then Marvin taped some cardboard down to the wooden floor in the hall. That worked fine for us. And to be fair, it's a small operation, so if one of his guys cannot work then that is going to throw a serious spanner in the works! But I know that's probably no consolation in your position.
  21. What CK and HPS said. They should already know what the problems are. If they don't, they must be bloody stupid. Leaving work early to attend a meeting (when people already have a ton of other stuff to do) simply shouldn't be necessary.
  22. Doctors surgery, "shop front" style police station, and a nursery. That would be pretty damn useful. But I suspect we'll get a Starbucks and a load of 500 sqft 2 bed flats.
  23. Lots of road sweepers round there v early this morning. If they're not clear now, I'm sure they will be soon.
  24. But what exactly constitutes "community use"?

Also not convinced that business travellers are the main reason for all the traffic... look at the ratio of economy to business class seats in your average long haul flight.
