  1. I quite like the foxes too, but it's quite reasonable for people not to want them howling or shitting in their gardens. I don't think I'd be very happy if my neighbour was feeding them.
  2. Seems to be normal these days. I just get to the station a couple of minutes early.
  3. You do realise that Fantastic Mr Fox was a work of fiction, right?

Good thread. Spent a good few hours yesterday wondering why nobody was suitably outraged, but it's coming along nicely now.
  5. They send a courier round to pick up the card? FFS... you've got to use a bit of common sense sometimes...

If they called me and said "please tell me your account number, mother's maiden name, and home address" then I'd be a bit suspicious. But surely that wouldn't happen.

  8. I reckon you'll need quite a high proportion of water for it to sink into the brick without leaving visible gluey residue. Maybe 1 PVA to 3 water.
  9. Ah.. shows how out of touch I am then... assumed SE22 would be automatically more expensive. Anyway, I'd say go for it, if the price seems right. It's not like you'll be in the middle of nowhere. And ignore the troll.
  10. If it's near the Rye end, there's a couple of pubs nearby, as well as a co-op and an Italian restaurant. Honor Oak Park station is walkable. It is a bit remote though... if you want something a bit more convenient/lively, the Bellenden Rd area would probably be better, and maybe a similar price(?)
  11. Ah... dancing on tables in the Mooserwirt to electro-oompah, then skiing down the mountain drunk. In the dark. Those were the days...
  12. I assume that nette was making a joke that I didn't really get...
  13. If it's the house I'm thinking of, I think it borders on an old light industrial plot accessed through a gate. So the owner could well have bought that too, and ended up with a nice large bit of land.
  14. I don't think the planning permission is an issue in itself... what somebody wants to build under their own land is there own business, as long as it is structurally sound. But I find it almost impossible to believe that a public road could be closed for 18 months for a private development project like this.
  15. Yeah... FM Mangal is great. Wulli Wulli is good too. Even the Indian restaurant along there is a notch above most of the LL places.
  16. Victoria Inn (during the day) is very baby/child friendly.

I think this is true up until recently, but I do find myself wondering what these people buying ?1m+ houses do for a living... that's going to be a bit of a stretch for your average programmer or accountant.
  18. I wouldn't spend any more than ?6-?12 on a candle.
  19. Nice work Louisa. I can never really get excited about pizza either, but its a decent enough option to fill the belly and soak up a couple of pints.
  20. The old material is still funny IMO. But the question is whether it will be funny to watch the skteches rehashed 40 years later with a few updated cultural references shoehorned in? Seems unlikely.

Idle and Gilliam must be loaded, surely? Things not going so well for John Cleese recently though, by all accounts....
  22. Some places will call you when your table is ready, so you can wait in the pub. This seems reasonable to me, and I'm happy to do that. But waiting outside in a queue is just daft. I've done it (under protest) for Pitt Cue co, Shake Shack, and even the Thai place in Brixton Village. Not sure any of them were really worth it. It's the last thing I want after a crappy day at work.
  23. Rematch...
  24. Agree with WOD. Many lease agreements with specify that floors must be carpeted. This should be the first thing to check.
  25. The cat solution sounds good. Until it brings a half dead bird into your bedroom as a present.
